Monsignor Pope Ping!
And, the opposite of sin is righteousness.
Righteousness isn’t necessary the arduous thing that we mortals have made it out to be. It wasn’t so in the Garden. It has become intertwined with arduousness because of fallen mankind’s simultaneous incurring of sin, which God resists. It can make strenuous efforts yet (in the pattern of the sacrifice of the cross) but those are motivated by the love of God. At one place Paul said that he would be willingly separated from Christ for the sake of other Christians he loved... he would go to hell for them.
Righteousness is had once more by leaning in faith on the Lord. “A sabbath rest for the people of God.” And power is imbued by the Lord for the sake of His praise.
The paralyzed man needed righteousness. The absence of it meant only sin. It was an inescapable trap, until Jesus came to set him free of the trap. Praise to the Lord forever.
God filled me with His love one time and it will last a lifetime. Boy, does He love us.
And yes, He demands we repent from our sins. It’s a betrayal of His love - like cheating on your husband or turning your dad over to the Nazis. Since I know this, when I sin, it really matters to me.
