ROME, Italy, August 30, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) — It is “highly questionable” to say Catholics and Muslims worship the same God and Islam is a religion of peace, Cardinal Raymond Burke said on a call with reporters Monday.
Burke, an American, is the former Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura, the Vatican’s highest court. He is now the patron of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
Burke was speaking to the media about Hope for the World: To Unite All Things in Christ, a newly-published book-length interview with French journalist Guillaume d’Alançon in which the prelate weighs in on a host of controversial topics such as contraception and its relationship to abortion, transgender bathrooms, Holy Communion for the divorced and remarried, and problems within the Catholic Church.
Nostra Aetate, the Second Vatican Council’s declaration on the Catholic Church’s relationship with other religions, “is not a dogmatic document,” Burke said.
Burke was responding to a question about whether Catholics and Muslims worship the same God and whether Catholics are bound to believe Vatican II’s definition of Islam.

Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.”

Under which covenant does salvation exist for Muslims?
Do they claim to be Jews?
Or have they accepted Christ as their intercessor?

Technically, Islam is pretty much OT from the Ishmaeli-descendants’ perspective. Islam also adds a bit of Jesus to keep up with the times (for 7th century). Heck, if Islam originated in the 19th century, it would have added bits of Sikhism and Bahaism. If it had originated in the 20th century, a bit of Scientology would be there as well. L. Ron Hubbard and ole Mo are pretty much the same.

Gee Whiz! There’s 1400 years of historical slavery, mass murder, atrocities, and other evil things associated with Islam, These so-called people who know something must live in an alternate universe.
With or without the storybook ending of a dead human, islam remains pure evil. Their filthy “religion” requires submission by any of a different faith.
You can not follow islam and be a good human.

Whether Catholics must embrace Islam as a religion of peace or be considered dissenters was a recent topic of debate between Robert Spencer of JihadWatch.org and Monsignor Stuart Swetland of Donnelly College. The former claims that Spencer’s position that Islam is inherently violent is at odds with the magisterial teachings of recent popes.
Supporters of Spencer point out that popes have had varying opinions about Islam throughout the years and that affirming a certain nature of Islam is not related to Catholic faith and morals and therefore is not binding for Catholics. They also say that Catholics should consult Islam itself to determine its nature.
Burke said much of today’s response to Islam is influenced by a religious relativism and holds “we’re all worshiping the same God” and “we all believe in love.”
If “God is love,” how can He be “the same God that commands of Muslims to slaughter infidels and to establish their rule by violence?” Burke asked.
“I don’t believe it’s true that we’re all worshiping the same God,” said Burke. “To say that we all believe in love is simply not correct.”
“Everything that I’ve said about Islam, is based on my own studies of the texts of Islam and also of their commentators,” the cardinal said.
The religious relativism that equates Catholic and Muslim teaching on the nature of God doesn’t “respect the truth” about what each religion teaches, he said. “This is not helpful.”

I think Joseph Smith is a much better comparison. They even use the exact same excuses as to why the previous holy books from religions they claim to be the rightful heirs to are not reliable. They also both claimed visitations from angels and direct revelation to a single person as the source of their Scriptures.

Whoever says Muslims worship the Christian God is not a Christian and neither is that church. Jesus plainly says, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.” (John 14:6). If you do not believe that Jesus lived a perfect life to keep the all of God’s Commandments for you and died on the cross to pay the price for your sins because no unholy thing can enter Heaven, then you are not a Christian.
Muslims worship the great deceiver. They even say the God of the Jews, the God of the Christians; when referring to the God that is not Allah.
This is why we are locked in this mortal battle between Christians / Jews and Islam. The classic fight between good and evil. I believe that Allah gets stronger via prayer. That is why they pray so many times a day. Just my speculation.
Maybe God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost get stronger as well through prayer. It couldn’t hurt.
However, their founder, Muhammad, as reported inrtheir own sacred accounts, the hadith, was the 180o opposite to Jesus, point for point: Muhammad lustful, Christ chaste; Muhammad remorselessly using women, Christ respecting them; Muhammad vengeful, Jesus forgiving; Muhammad bloody-handed with the blood of massacres, Christ shedding only His own blood for our salvation.
Keep in mind that Muhammad was a warlord; a trafficker in captured women, some of whom he took for his own sex slaves (concubines); and a delusional raver who had communication with certain spiritual "entities" who told him lies about Christ and God.
So rather than a pagan religion, I would call Islam a perfect, point-for-point perversion of monotheism, and the religion of Antichrist.
