Brandmüller: “The Resignation of the Pope Is Possible, But May It Never Happen Again”
Chiesa Online ^ | 7/18/16 | Sandro Magister

The German cardinal, an authoritative historian of Christianity, weighs in on the ever more incandescent question of the resignation of Benedict XVI. Which in his judgment has not been good for the Church

ROME, July 18, 2016 – The dispute, ever more fiery, over the absolute innovation of “two popes” in being at the same time, one reigning and one “emeritus,” the former “active” and the latter “contemplative,” now has a new contender of absolute prominence, Cardinal Walter Brandmüller, who has taken the field with an article in the authoritative online juridical journal “Statoechiese.it":

"Renuntiatio Papae". Alcune riflessioni storico-canonistiche

Brandmüller, 87, a German, is an authority on the subject. He was for many years a tenured professor of Church history at the university of Augsburg. At the Vatican he headed the pontifical committee for historical sciences from 1998 to 2009. And he was made a cardinal by Benedict XVI in 2010.

He was one of the most resolute supporters of Joseph Ratzinger’s pontificate. But he did not take his resignation of the papacy well. It is his conviction, in fact, that such resignations are possible, but not all of them are morally licit, meaning directed to the “bonum commune” of the Church.

Much less does Brandmüller accept that the post-resignation should take the form that it is assuming today with the entirely unprecedented figure of a “pope emeritus,” with the very grave risks, including that of schism, which in his judgment it entails.

In his article, Brandmüller does not even use the formula of “pope emeritus.” On the contrary, he calls “necessary and urgent a legislation that would define and regulate” the status of one who has been pope.

Reproduced below almost in its entirety is the fifth and final part of the cardinal’s article, with five proposals for.....

Pope Francis as well, responding to a journalist during the return flight from Armenia on June 26, demonstrated that he rejected the idea of “almost a shared ministry” between the two popes. On the contrary, he claimed the exercise of primacy for himself alone; he remarked on “the obedience” promised by the pope emeritus to his successor; and he did not hold back from picking up and spreading even on his part the “gossip” according to which “some people have gone [to Ratzinger] to complain about ‘this new pope…’ and he has sent them packing”

Fact or fiction?

I have to say that I have wondered if the last Pope didn’t so much resign as he suffered a coup. As I recall he was no fan of the homosexuals who pervade the RCC and given the new Pope seems to be their friend it does give one pause to wonder if the queers staged a coup.

Somebody at one point had posted a list of the final popes according to scripture or prophecy or some other respected source and if I recall correctly, we’re pretty darn close to the last one. Any chance someone has that and can re-post it?

thanks in advance.

Wow, so exposing ongoing shameless Gross indecent corruption of the Roman Catholic Church that mocks god, Jesus Christ, and robs to the tune of BILLIONS, is a “sin” that will damn me to eternal hell?
Voltaire was right, “To know who is your master, learn who you cannot criticize”.

Childhood catechism really brain-washes critical thinking and god given morality right out of the blind faithful devoted to the word of Rome...
Once hardcore RC devotees are shamed away from The Church, I expect some of the indignant to join islam.
Islam suffers fewer critics and encourages elimination of heretics.

A favor to ask for the sake of children and civilization -
Embrace the Vatican if you must, but Please DONT send any of their mobster$ money.
Implore you not to fund RC war on:
*Christ,

****western civilization.
* Vatican anti-christ papal “infallibility” doctrine
** Vatican on down continues to protect their perverted foot soldiers in continuing to refuse holding THOUSANDS of sodomist child sex abusers accountable for their crimes.
*** Vatican doctrine has deviated far away from Christ’s teaching and that of God our father.
**** Vatican Catholic Refugee Services racket takes in MILLIONS of US and European tax dollars to encourage flood of refugee immigrants and resulting violent muslim and illegal immigrant “cultural enrichment”, ie: rape, assault, entitlement fraud, war of first ammendment.

Several injured in attack on train near Würzburg, southern Germany
DW ^ | 18 July 2016 | Kate Brady

Posted on Mon Jul 18 18:20:48 2016 by Gamecock

Multiple injuries have been reported on a train near Würzburg after a man went on a stabbing rampage. According to Bavaria’s Interior Ministry, the suspect has been shot dead by police.

A police operation is underway in the German town of Heidingsfeld, part of the southern city of Würzburg, after a man launched an attack on a passenger train at around 9.15pm local time (1915 UTC) on Monday.

According to Bavaria’s Interior Ministry, a 17-year-old Afghan shouted “Allahu Akbar” before launching the attack using a knife and axe. The suspect was shot dead by police as he attempted to flee the scene.

Three people were seriously injured and a fourth suffered light injuries. Another 14 people were reportedly held up in the train.

Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Hermann said the possibility of life-threatening injuries couldn’t be ruled out.

The train route between Ochsenfurt and Würzburg has been closed.

Harsh comment to MarchonDC09122009, but possibly be true. His abiding anger and hatred does NO ONE any good and are MUCH USED tool by Satan and his minions.

One wonders why it seems to be okay to BLAST Catholics or people of different Christian denominations.
NOT very Christian, is it? Do you think he/they see that?
Or, perhaps they consider THEIR anger justifiable. Hmmm.

I’ve been using “Pope Che”. Some folks get bent at that. I find it apt.

I am a Roman Catholic. I oppose ANY further immigration of Islamos into ANY part of the West and particularly the US and Canada. I take and accept NO RESPONSIBILITY for the crimes perpetrated by Islamofascists ANYWHERE in the West.

Bavaria, cited several times by you, is a quite CATHOLIC area of Germany and apparently did a quite efficient job of taking out the Afghan Islamofascist trash. If allowed to carry GUNS, the passengers on the train would likely have disposed of the Islamolooneytune much earlier than public authorities. Not that it makes Reformed Christians responsible either but note that Angela Merkel is the daughter of a Lutheran minister. So what? That does not mean that the Lutherans are eager to be invaded by Islam just because she is.

The Breitbart headline said "Christian Charities." Are the pseudoCatholics of most of modern Germany the only "Christians" lusting after resettlement money. You seem to concentrate only on "Catholics" and to ignore Protestant wrongdoing. Why is that? Goose/gander!

As an actual Catholic, I would take the disgraceful "Catholic" likes of Walter Cardinal Kaspar, Karl Cardinal Lehmann, Reinhard Cardinal Marx and a lot more of the German "Catholic" prominentoes, subject them to, ummm, rigorous inquiry, then after hearing their self-serving lies, gag them, bind their wrists, tie them to a stake, and watch them consumed by holy fire.

The Roman Catholic Church in the United States receives many multiples of $79 million from the US government each and every year because of its vast array of social services available to everyone: hospitals, nursing homes, housing, food distribution, adoption services, social workers, foster care, and much. much more. The Catholic Church is not alone. Many Reformed Churches also provide a wide array of very fine social services to the general public and receive subsidies for same.

As conservatives, we may not be in love with government subsidies for these works. Would we prefer that the secular humanist government provide the services instead, complete with deciding when the elderly and disabled should die because they no longer have "useful" (read taxpaying) lives?

We may prefer to stifle illegal immigration altogether or even all immigration, but that is another and different question.
