The Vatican newspaper has published a front-page reflection on conversions to Islam.
Summarizing a recent book by journalist Virginie Riva examining the conversions of 11 French women, historian Lucetta Scaraffia writes that the women were between the ages of 25 and 35, university educated, not attracted by terrorism, and either agnostic or Catholic.
These women were drawn to Islam, Scaraffia said, through their friendship with Muslim students who witnessed to their religion, delighted in studying the Quran, and did not downplay Islam’s requirements regarding prayer and the role of the sexes.
Accepting invitations to Ramadan meals, these women, “very often” the children of divorced parents, were especially attracted by the warmth of family life and hospitality. In Islam, the converts also found answers to their sometimes “anguished” questions about the meaning of life and death.
These stories, Scaraffia writes, recall practices that were once common among French Catholics, such as family hospitality on Christmas Eve and the recitation of the family Rosary.
Human warmth, rather than bureaucratic planning, is crucial, said Scaraffia, showing the importance of Pope Francis’s desire to “to create a warm and welcoming community, to witness with humility but with tenacity to our faith.”
Ping!
No reason for any sane person to convert to that garbage.
Yeah, Warm and fuzzy Muslims. Those old nasty Christians.
Bunch of BS.
Time for a return of the Inquisition.

They should not be surprised at all.
The Roman Catholic church keeps telling people that the worship the same deity and that the koran is a holy book.
The Pope himself has said there is no difference.
Well maybe they do BUT that deity is NOT the God of the Bible.
allah is a false god and mohammad is a false prophet .
Even the jesus of the unholy koran is another false jesus who is a muslim .
>These women were drawn to Islam, Scaraffia said, through their friendship with Muslim students who witnessed to their religion, delighted in studying the Quran, and did not downplay Islams requirements regarding prayer and the role of the sexes.
Even retards follow the crumbs that lead to their demise.
Must have been very lonely and detached people in the same way folks join any group that is welcoming. This includes a lot of Christian churches where “fellowship” is the top priority.
So it appears that the Vatican newspaper only sees good in this? Catholics converting to Islam? Really?

Not surprising in francischurrch, since all are saved and Hell does not exist: bad souls are just annihilated.
Accepting invitations to Ramadan meals, ...
Why not?
From the PONTIFICAL COUNCIL FOR INTERRELIGIOUS DIALOGUE : Your [Ramadan] pilgrimage (hajj) to the Holy places, mainly Mecca and Medina, is surely a special time for you to experience Gods mercy.
...these women, very often the children of divorced parents, were especially attracted by the warmth of family life and hospitality.
Yet between Francis' new liberal rules on granting annulments, [aka Catholic divorce] right and left , and his heretical AL which invites the divorced and remarried to Holy Communion, who would expect more young women from apostatizing?
“Accepting invitations to Ramadan meals....”
You mean like this one held in a CATHOLIC CHURCH?

Unless you're referring to a state inquisition. I wouldn't know what to say about that.
As I read AL, the fault is not that Pope Francis made any such declaration (he didn't) but that he neglected to spell out the conditions needed for their reception of Holy Communion: namely, that either the first marriage(s) mus have been found null (no bond), or the couple must be repentant for adulterous acts and committed to a conversion of life, i.e. abstaining from such adulterous acts with each other in the future.
So -- in my view--- this is a severe defect in AL as a teaching document: an omission. But there is not a positive statement that repentance and copnversion to a chaste way of life is not necessary, or that they can be admitted to Communion at their own wish, or at their pastor's discretion. That isn't discussed at all.
In fact that's what makes it so exasperating: the vagueness and equivocation.
Absolutely the worst possible Pope at the worst possible time in history. A disaster, all the way around.
People are often attracted to a faith that has rules and warmth in the home. Women and men need the kind of strong faith and family devotions that were common here at the mid century.
I remember living in a community where all the businesses were closed til noon on Sunday and only very small mom and pops were open on Sunday afternoon. No alcohol was served in establishments until noon Sunday and it was expected that church services would be attended by many.
The churches were open all week long and one could go in there at any time and find several people praying and the Catholics lighting candle prayers. When one walked by a church one ducked in to say a quick prayer, meditate, calm the self. We look to yoga and eastern meditation to give us poor models of what we used to have as a culture.
Actually I think what he said was true.
We as a Christian and particularly Catholic culture do not offer these warm conversion inducing things to people around us. Heck we don’t provide it for our own Christian communities. He is saying we need to be doing these things with our compelling truth of our faith.
300. If we consider the immense variety of concrete situations such as those I have mentioned, it is understandable that neither the Synod nor this Exhortation could be expected to provide a new set of general rules, canonical in nature and applicable to all cases. What is possible is simply a renewed encouragement to undertake a responsible personal and pastoral discernment of particular cases, one which would recognize that, since the degree of responsibility is not equal in all cases, 335 the consequences or effects of a rule need not necessarily always be the same.336 Priests have the duty to accompany [the divorced and remarried] in helping them to understand their situation according to the teaching of the Church and the guidelines of the bishop. Useful in this process is an examination of conscience through moments of reflection and repentance. The divorced and remarried should ask themselves: how did they act towards their children when the conjugal union entered into crisis; whether or not they made attempts at re-conciliation; what has become of the abandoned party; what consequences the new relationship has on the rest of the family and the community of the faithful; and what example is being set for young people who are preparing for marriage. A sincere reflection can strengthen trust in the mercy of God which is not denied anyone.337 What we are speaking of is a process of accompaniment and discernment which guides the faithful to an awareness of their situation before God. Conversation with the priest, in the internal forum, contributes to the formation of a correct judgment on what hinders the possibility of a full-er participation in the life of the Church and on what steps can foster it and make it grow. Given that gradualness is not in the law itself (cf. Familiaris Consortio, 34), this discernment can never prescind from the Gospel demands of truth and charity, as proposed by the Church. For this discernment to happen, the following conditions must necessarily be present: humility, discretion and love for the Church and her teaching, in a sincere search for Gods will and a desire to make a more perfect response to it.338 These attitudes are essential for avoiding the grave danger of misunderstandings, such as the notion that any priest can quickly grant exceptions, or that some people can obtain sacramental privileges in exchange for favours. When a responsible and tactful person, who does not presume to put his or her own de-sires ahead of the common good of the Church, meets with a pastor capable of acknowledging the seriousness of the matter before him, there can be no risk that a specific discernment may lead people to think that the Church maintains a double standard.

What may have appeared to be deliberately vague, quickly became clear:
Frank Rocca (Wall Street Journal): Thanks, Holy Father. I see that the questions on immigration that I had thought to ask you have been asked and answered by you very well. If you permit me, Id like to ask you another question about an event of recent days, which was your apostolic exhortation. As you well know, there has been much discussion about on one of the many, I know that weve focused on this a lot there has been much discussion after the publication. Some sustain that nothing has changed with respect to the discipline that regulates access to the sacraments for the divorced and remarried, that the Law, the pastoral praxis and obviously the doctrine remain the same. Others sustain that much has changed and that there are new openings and possibilities. For a Catholic who wants to know: are there new, concrete possibilities that didnt exist before the publication of the exhortation or not?
Pope Francis: I can say yes, many. But it would be an answer that is too small. I recommend that you read the presentation of Cardinal Schonborn, who is a great theologian. He was the secretary for the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, and he knows the doctrine of the faith well. In that presentation, your question will find an answer.
And here is what Cardinal Schonborn, Francis' "great theologian" had to say on AL:
Naturally this poses the question: what does the Pope say in relation to access to the sacraments for people who live in irregular situations? Pope Benedict had already said that easy recipes do not exist (AL 298, note 333). Pope Francis reiterates the need to discern carefully the situation, in keeping with St. John Paul IIs Familiaris consortio (84) (AL 298). Discernment must help to find possible ways of responding to God and growing in the midst of limits. By thinking that everything is black and white, we sometimes close off the way of grace and of growth, and discourage paths of sanctification which give glory to God (AL 205). He also reminds us of an important phrase from Evangelii gaudium, 44: A small step, in the midst of great human limitations, can be more pleasing to God than a life which appears outwardly in order but moves through the day without confronting great difficulties (AL 304). In the sense of this via caritatis (AL 306), the Pope affirms, in a humble and simple manner, in a note (351) that the help of the sacraments may also be given in certain cases.
