Father Antono Spadaro, the Italian Jesuit who was an influential figure in the meetings of the Synod on the Family, now writes that Pope Francis has removed all restrictions on the access of divorced and remarried Catholics to the sacraments.
Father Spadaro's controversial interpretation of Amoris Laetitia-- which appears to contradict the claims that the Pope made no major changes in Church teaching or discipline-- appears in Civilta Cattolica, the Jesuit journal that Father Spadaro edits.
Civilta Cattolica is regarded as a semi-authoritative source because its contents are approved in advance by the Vatican Secretariat of State. Father Spadaro has worked closely with Pope Francis as adviser and translator, and reportedly helped to draft the apostolic exhortation.

The “restrictions” are not punishment, they are protection.

Pastors don’t make it a point to ask people who come up for Communion whether they are divorced or remarried. It is sufficient that the Church teaches that it is wrong—or at least is supposed to teach that it is wrong.
The same with abortion. If someone acts to promote abortion and then comes up to receive Communion without first confessing, then they are committing a second mortal sin. But it’s not up to the priest to ask communicants whether they support abortion. On the other hand, if it is publicly known, as with someone like Nancy Pelosi, who has no intention of reforming, then the priest is wrong to give her communion.
And if it is a mortal sin to receive Communion when you know that you are living in mortal sin, then pastors are doing no one any favors by telling them it’s OK. Their job is to warn sinners, not to encourage them.

Even though SSPX knows my wife and I have lived as brother and sister for decades they still won’t permit us to receive Communion. And I respect them for that.
The issue is not “divorced”; it’s “divorced and remarried” - living in an ongoing state of mortal sin (adultery).
the Jesuits are, and have always been imo, the CIA of the Vatican. They are known as the go-to Order when it is required that some skullduggery or psy-ops needs doing. This has been going on for centuries. There has never been a Jesuit Pope, until now. This will not end well, mark my words.

Personally, I think Father Spadaro gives Francis’ idealized version of the document (what the pope would have liked to have written). To Francis’ consternation, the actual document was constrained to the letter of the law (Dogma and pastoral practice) by traditionalist groups within the Vatican.
