Local antiwar military veterans gathered outside New England's largest mosque Saturday to show support for Muslims amid growing anti-Muslim sentiments that some believe have been stoked by the inflammatory tone of the presidential race.
The rally at the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center in Roxbury was organized by the Smedley D. Butler Brigade of Veterans for Peace and drew about 200 people.
"When you listen to what's going on in presidential politics there is a lot of misinformation and some people are really misrepresenting what this religion is," said Bob Funke, a US Army veteran and coordinator for the local veterans group. "They're using it as a wedge issue and they're scaring people. It's the politics of fear."

Any organization named after a guy named Smedley just has to be suspect.
I guess Boston has already forgotten about those troublesome Tsarnaev Brothers and their nail filled pressure cookers.
They just weren’t loved and welcomed enough. The media said so.
There are just as many vets who vote for democrats as they do republicans.
There are just as many dumb vets as there are smart ones.
There are the exact same amount of veterans who will get their heads chopped off by muslims.
I truly wonder how many of these veterans are REMFs.

I’m familiar with Smedley Butler and War is a Racket. I think he had some reasonable arguments and insights. I just don’t understand why people, ordinary American citizens and veterans, can’t be against foreign interventions and endless wars and without being pro-Muslim or coddling up to America’s enemies or non-allied countries. There seems to always be a false dichotomy presented as either being pro-intervention/ nation building or anti-war / supporting countries and cultures that despise America. I believe both of these positions lead America into a globalist/ internationalist NWO direction that is profoundly un-American.

There are no civilized moozlums. They are destroyers and subjugators.
Your good moozlums are biding their time until they murder you and your family.
Dont be naive.

Not necessarily. Many vets who had seen combat turned anti-war after returning from Vietnam, usually because of personal reasons, issues with the way they were treated by the Army, etc. Maybe because of their own miscues, things went badly for them, and they took their bitterness out on the government.
BS. Shades of the Vietnam War protests.
DD214s. I truly wonder how many of these “veterans” are veterans.
The John Kerry brigade
Then, when I think I am being too harsh, I remember these young Marines I met at the Gathering of Eagles in DC, who were visiting the grave of their buddy who had been killed in Fallujah. They decided to hang out with the DC Free Republic Chapter at the big roundabout on the Arlington side of the Memorial Bridge near the Lincoln Memorial, which the anti-war liberals were going to march across, and we were there to meet them as they came over.
They were a standup bunch of guys, and you could tell they were close...I didn't doubt those guys would have done anything to avoid letting the others down. They hadn't been stateside all that long, and had all been together in the thick of it in the Fallujah campaign..
We were the ones standing in the foreground in this picture with the large banner and the pole with the American Flag and the Marine Corps Flag (carried by Freeper Trooprally) as the anti-war liberals came across the bridge.
This is a picture of our side from the front...
Those young Marines with us had absolutely no patience with a line of these "Vets for Peace" marching with their damned liberal MoveOn and Code Pink brethren carrying Che Guevara flags. This picture I took below was typical of the protesters on the other side. The Marines yelled at them "What do you have to cover your face for A-hole? You afraid to show your face?"
It was pretty clear they had contempt for them. And one point, one of these weaselly a-holes was berating one of the guys on our side, and he made a snide comment of some kind that set one of the guys off, and he had to be held back by his buddies as he screamed back at the Vet for Peace turd that he didn't have any idea what he was talking about, because he had been there and he knew. It isn't too hard to lip-read his buddy wearing the hoodie who was holding him back. We all felt the same way.
If I have to choose sides in this from the perspective of someone who didn't serve over there, I am choosing the side of the guy and his buddies shown above, because they sure knew what they were talking about.
He's the guy right under the word OIL.

idiot and coordinator for some of the local
intensely shell shocked veterans.
Even Vets can go full retard and align with the islamo filth that would just as soon kill them when they are finished using them.
To condone islam is to admit you are retarded and/or evil.
Sh*t! apparently, those enemy agents with the $$$ can buy Americans to say or do just about ANYTHING!
This “Veterans for Peace” is almost as Leftist as the original VFP set up by the Communist Party USA back in the 1950’s and then reformed in the 1960’s. The 1960’s version, led by CPUSA veteran leader Leroy Wolins, was the reported inspiration for the leftist, “Vietnam Veterans Against the War in Vietnam” (VVAW), which was taken over by the Maoists of the Revolutionary Union, Revolutionary Communist Party in 1973.
Just a little backstory for you.
Larry Bailey and the guys put on one helluva parade that day. The comradery between Vietnam vets, even with strangers, was awesome. My daughter had never seen anything like that.
Today, she helps veterans, esp. the guys from Iraq (including her brother) and Afghanistan through CVA.
Helping those who protected us.
