And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod. When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon. And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon’s house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.( I Samuel 5:1-5)

We have been looking at the story of the capture of the Ark of God, in the light of Biblical prophecy. The story, recorded in I Samuel 4-6 actually happened in history; time and space history, salvation history, and Biblical history. But the children of Israel are a miracle people, they are witnesses to God, therefore even there history is prophetic.

Israel would suffer foreign oppression, time and again on their own soil, due to their violation of the conditional Mosaic covenant. There would be attempts by Israel in her own strength, to throw off the yoke in the future, but without turning to God, they would fail for the most part.

But there would be two huge defeats that would characterize the future of Israel. One of these defeats would be memorable and devastating, but the second would be so much greater and more disastrous than the first, that Israel would never recover from it until the end of time.

In 586 BC the Babylonians over ran the wales of Jerusalem, stripped the nation bare of everyone of any skill, or value, and carted them away, including the Royal family (the Son of David), leaving a hand picked King in his place. Eventually the Babylonians destroyed the Holy Temple, which the Jews trusted in, leaving it in a smoldering heap, and took Jews into captivity for forty years.

But the second defeat, in 70 Ad was so destructive, Israel to this day has never recovered from it. The nation was taken out of existence, the people were either glutted or made into slaves, and there was no Israel until 1948. To this day she has no temple, priest or King!

But shortly before the second defeat, the High Priest siezed the Messiah, the person who embodied all that the Ark had pointed to,and handed him over to the Gentiles. This is the future of Israel as played out in the story of the captured Ark.

What happened next? What is the future of the gentiles?

When the Philistines “captured” the Ark of God,(i.e. the earthly throne of the Living God, who dwelt between the Cherubim), they carried Him off as a prisoner of war. In their mind, this was the victory of Dagon over Jahweh. They had vanquished the God of Israel, and were now glorying in their triumph.

They hauled the Ark into the temple of Dagon(A Tomb?), and put the Ark in lowly obeisance before the mighty Dagon. Jahweh was dead, and Dagon alive and victorious. After the celebration the Philistines left the temple (tomb?) and closed the door on the seemingly vanquished and dead “God”.

But when the Philistines came back early the next morning,to celebrate the death and defeat of Jahweh, they realized that He was not quite as dead as they thought HE was. When they opened the temple, they saw Dagon prostrated on the floor, before Jahweh, in humble obeisance.

The Jewish future involved a twofold defeat, the second one being irrecoverable. So too also, does the gentile future. The prostration of Dagon before Jahweh reveals the first defeat of the Gentiles.

When the Messiah of Israel was handed over to the gentiles, The God of Israel was revealed through the Messiah, and Gentiles in the millions forsook the ancient gods. Wherever the glad tidings have gone these two thousand years, in the Gentile world, pagans have abandoned their false gods. You could say that the gods had prostrated themselves before Jahweh, as gentiles became Christians.

This is one way of relating the last two millenia; the ends of the earth seeing the salvation of God and abandoning their false gods.

But the Philistines went in and propped up Dagon again. This is what is currently happening again among the gentiles in this “post Christian “era, all of the ancient gods are returned. Moloch has been propped up again(Abortion on demand), so also have the greek gods(Sexual anarchy), and Gaia(Environmentalism to the point of pantheism, and Baal is back(Allah). They are propping up the ancient gods for the second and irreversible defeat of the gentiles.

When the Philistines came back after propping up Dagon in the face of the Ark. But this time they found him prostrate again, only this time his head and hands were broken. The primal gospel promised that Satan’s head would be crushed by the “Seed of the woman”, and in the end the crushing of Satan’s head is manifested.

The way Daniel saw this vision, was that the proud idol man has erected will come to it’s zenith, until a “Stone not shaped by human hands” flies at the idol’s feet, and crushes all that man worships and aspires to without God. The statue doesn’t become shards, rather it turns to powder, and the Spirit blows away the powder and the stone becomes a mighty mountain which fills the earth.

This is the second and shattering and absolute defeat of the gentile powers.

Time to send to the church of Our Lady of Axum in Ethiopia for a return of The Ark of The Covenant?
