In theaters this weekend, The 33, starring Antonio Banderas and Juliette Binoche, recounts the extraordinary story of the 2010 Chilean mining disaster that buried 33 miners 2300 feet underground for 69 days before their unprecedented rescue. The world was riveted by the story; one of the miners, Mario Sepúlveda â dubbed âSuper Marioâ by the media, and played in the film by Banderas â acted as spokesman for the group in daily video logs, and his face became familiar all over the globe.
Fewer would recognize the face or the name of the man whose plan â and drilling equipment â made the rescue possible: Greg Hall, owner of Houston-based Drillers Supply International. (Some readers might recognize the name of Hallâs other company, the American Manufacturing Company in Minnesota: the first company to win a temporary injunction against the Obamacare contraception and abortion mandates, and, with Hobby Lobby, one of the first to win a permanent injunction.)

âGod drilled that holeâ
Wasn’t that Bill Clintons defense...It wasn’t him...
This is to be remembered as a proud episode for AMERICANS proving that we are a people of faith, friendship, and perseverance. Soon after the WON came into office and belittled, criticized our country day after day to have this story up front in the news only showed that oh, the dark won was so wrong in all his tantrums and speeches. When those imprisoned miners had sunlight on their faces, the heart skipped, beating a little more quickly, and a prayer was sent up of thanks.
If the Hollywood crowd can tell this story in a truthful way, the production would be a success as it was so inspiring in so many ways to so many persons.
The number 33. 33 miners brought back from certain death. 33, the age of Jesus who also came back from certain death. Interesting.
Beautiful article on a humble man of God. Here you see how to deal with whatever challenges life is presenting you by acknowledging that God is in charge, not us.
