How liberals are handling their defeat at the Synod
Fr. Z's Blog ^ | 10/27/2015 | Fr. John Zuhlsdorf

Ross Douthat of the NYT really got under the skin of a whole raft of libs who, in typical lib fashion, reacted badly and are now trying silence him. Douthat wrote about how the libs lost at the Synod, how they did not get their Church and doctrine changing agenda through. HERE – go read it now. That made liberal heads explode. They signed on to a group letter whining to the Editor of Hell’s Bible that that sort of thing shouldn’t be permitted. After all, they sneered, Douthat doesn’t have a theology degree.

So the libs wrote a letter. Here it is with the list of signatories I have at this time.

To the editor of the New York Times

On Sunday, October 18, the Times published Ross Douthat’s piece “The Plot to Change Catholicism.” Aside from the fact that Mr. Douthat has no professional qualifications for writing on the subject, the problem with his article and other recent statements is his view of Catholicism as unapologetically subject to a politically partisan narrative that has very little to do with what Catholicism really is. Moreover, accusing other members of the Catholic church of heresy, sometimes subtly, sometimes openly, is serious business that can have serious consequences for those so accused. This is not what we expect of the New York Times.

Good explanation. Remember Francis is almost 80. He doesn’t have much times left. We need to run out the clock.

True. But for the sake of his soul, and the souls of all those who will be misled by his "mercy," we need to get him back on track.

For me, anything that has the “conservative” Catholics and the “liberal” Catholics BOTH upset probably isn’t all that bad. We are supposed to be just “Catholic” after all anyway.

All upset about the Synod really should quit worrying about the future. If there’s anything as Catholics we should know, it’s that we don’t live in the past or the future only the present only the present we can contend with. And Pope Francis isn’t giving any exhortation today, tomorrow or anytime soon. Probably not until next year. And guess what too: nothing we say or write (especially online) is going to change his mind.

All we can do is all we should do which is pray for him, and move on. All else is just a source of division and potential scandal. And who loves division and scandal? Anyone? Anyone? Bueler?

Trust in the Lord that He will keep his promises, He will keep His Church safe. Have a little faith in that at least now and then....

I’m willing to give a brief discourse why it is possible that Bergoglio is not validly the supreme pontiff of the Holy Catholic church.

We were told that Benedict abdicated because of health. But his health seems to have recovered remarkably sonce he stepped down.

Then, we found out that a “liberal mafia “ had been working behind the scenes to rid us of Benedict.

Did the “push” go beyond moral bounds and cause Benedict’s health to deteriorate so much that he felt that he had no choice but to abdicate? Was he in realistic fear for his life?

If so, then his abdication is invalid, he is still pope, the members of the “liberal mafia” should all be burnt at the stake, or at least be degraded to a state lower than Catholic laity, and Bergoglio shipped to a monastery for the rest of its miserable life with a permanent requirement of silence, enforced, if necessay, by cutting out its tongue, and a special rule for the College of Cardinals limiting their selection in the next Conclave to the five most conservatives named Burke.

No, this so-called minimization was exactly what was to happen! Wake up! Do you really think the plan was to have full-on denial of Church teaching?? This is classic boiling frog syndrome...and it’s been happening since Vatican II!

We expected far worse

Really? I never believed that the Synod would be outright heresy. That's not the way these heretic Modernists work. They are way too smart for that.

They would mass murder their social enemies if they had the power. Liberals are evil.

Maybe someone can explain why things don’t post with any control over appearance.

My fonts are always the same with no bold or italic control. This last post I could not even get space between paragraphs apparently because of some kind of formatting that was imbedded in the original article text. Any ideas?

How to people get photos and font characteristics to show?
