Did The Pont Hint At Synod Infallibility?
Creative Minority Report ^ | 10/17/15 | Patrick Archbold

Posted on 10/17/2015 10:01:10 AM PDT by BlatherNaut

Today at the Synod, in a speech commemorating the institution of Synod, The Pope used language indicative that the outcome of the Synod is binding. “Finally,” explained Pope Francis, “the synodal process culminates in listening to the Bishop of Rome, called upon to speak authoritatively [It. pronunciare] as ‘Shepherd and Teacher of all Christians’: not on the basis of his personal beliefs, but as the supreme witness of the Faith of the whole Church, the guarantor of the Church’s conformity with and obedience to the will of God, to the Gospel of Christ and the Tradition of the Church.” That comes pretty darn close to saying that whatever the Pope says at the end of the Synod is to be infallibly held by the whole Church.

Given how this synod is progressing, that is a very scary proposition. So there are a few possibilities.

A) The Pope definitively shuts down this pastoral solution crap and declares that the current doctrine AND practice is the ONLY proper interpretation. This is certainly possible and I fervently pray for this outcome, but I don't think likely.

B) The Pope uses similar language in his final speech and declares that the pastoral solutions or whatever other heretical nonsense the Germans cooked up is infallible by his authority. I don't think this is likely for two reasons. This would either get the Pope hit by lightning or would mean he isn't even the Pope. Doubtful the Pope would open up this can of worms.

C) The Pope let's this speech stand as it is and the progressives claim this speech makes the Pope's final speech authoritative and binding use it to cajole Bishops and the faithful into going along with potential heresy. In short, they will claim the Pope's final address as infallible even if the Pope does not use language necessary to define it as so.

Boy, we could have some real trouble on our hands. Hold onto your britches buttercups.

B, I predict “B” and let the lightning bolts fall where they may.

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema.” (Gal 1:8)

It would be a relief, in a way, though B doesn’t seem to fit his underhanded style.

And isn’t it convenient that we already have a slightly used pope just sitting around collecting dust. I think people got over the novelty of having an “emeritus” without realizing how weird it is to have one.

Are you suggesting we put Pope Benedict XVI up on Craigslist?

I doubt that papal infallibility can even be invoked with regard to the current situation, since no dogma or teaching is being defined. The situations where papal infallibility come into play are extremely rare, popular opinion to the contrary.

Since the current debate is essentially pastoral, I doubt the question of papal infallibility is relevant. What is being attempted is a practical way to get around or ignore Church teaching on the Eucharist, rather than a redefining of that teaching.

Francis may well give the Germans the green light but he can't do it infallibly.

I don’t take him seriously any more. The church will survive his papacy.

What the pope declares will be infallible. No discussion. 2000 years we have known this.

What a wasted artocle!!!

For something to be infallible it has to be in concert with all the bishops. It has to be a declaration in faith and morals. It has to be something that has been believed since the beginning by the faihful. Whatever comes of the synod will not be in concert with all the bishops. The third necessity certainly does not countenance any loosening or abandonment of the magisterial definition and treatment of marriage.

No, not at all. The wolves can accomplish much of what they want in the practical sense by an "engineered" ambiguity in the texts plus no correction. But it will not come down to "infallible" doctrine.

Unfortunately, confusion is mightier than the sword.

It is way past trouble my Catholic friends. The Church leadership has been invaded by and essentially taken over by Satan. Just my humble opinion.

Canon Law. General Discipline of the Church. Second object of Church Infallibility.

This is how it will be done.

"What the pope declares will be infallible. No discussion. 2000 years we have known this."

So if the pope declares that a clearly identified mortal sin is no longer a sin at all, you'll just go right along with it?

It is epic failure to declare yourself infallible.

I think people got over the novelty of having an “emeritus” without realizing how weird it is to have one.

Very weird, indeed.

Was Pope Francis canonically elected?

"1. The time is fast approaching in which there will be great trials and afflictions; perplexities and dissensions, both spiritual and temporal, will abound; the charity of many will grow cold, and the malice of the wicked will increase.

2. The devils will have unusual power, the immaculate purity of our Order, and of others, will be so much obscured that there will be very few Christians who will obey the true Sovereign Pontiff and the Roman Church with loyal hearts and perfect charity. At the time of this tribulation a man, not canonically elected, will be raised to the Pontificate, who, by his cunning, will endeavor to draw many into error and death..."

The Prophecy of St. Francis About a Future Pope

It's interesting that the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate were expressly singled out for destruction shortly after Francis assumed the papal throne.
