Full Title: ‘They Are Satan’s Church’: Famed Pastor’s Tough Message for Christian Denominations Condoning Homosexuality

Famed pastor John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, recently reacted to denominations that have taken more liberal approaches to gay marriage, among other issues, telling TheBlaze that “they have no allegiance to the Bible.”

MacArthur, author of “Being a Dad Who Leads,” said that these denominations — like Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), which recently voted to allow same-sex nuptials — and their associated seminaries have been skirting scriptural tenets for decades.

He patently described them as “false churches” that fail to teach biblical truths.

“They have no allegiance to the Bible,” he said. “You go back to every one of those seminaries … for a century [they] have been deniers of biblical authority, they have no relationship to scripture, they are the apostate church, they are Satan’s church.”

And when asked whether Christianity on the whole is on the decline, MacArthur said that one must be careful when assessing the faith, as there are major differences between “true,” “cultural” and “institutional” Christianity.

MacArthur said that cultural Christianity in America dates back to the founding fathers who “knew you couldn’t compel people to goodness” unless there was belief in a higher power.

The preacher said that this form of Christianity, which is in decline, isn’t necessarily connected to a church or institution, but that it sets values that are embraced by people from various groups.

“Cultural Christianity … is dying at a warp speed … when you have an election when the platform is sin — in the last election for the the Democratic platform was pro killing children and pro homosexuality,” MacArthur said. “The young generation has bought into the corruption and lack of ethics morals by media entertainment [and] educators.”

In contrast, MacArthur said that institutional Christianity takes a more physical form, comprising faith systems and houses of worship that he believes are essentially in flux and ever-changing.

“Institutional churches ebb and flow, denominations ebb and flow. They are made up of true believers and false believers — the genuine and the diluted,” he said. “There is a sense in which there’s always going to be an ebb and flow in the institutional church.”

But “true” Christianity is a different institution entirely — one MacArthur carefully distinguished, as it is centered upon Jesus Christ and the church he believes God built. Unlike cultural Christianity, he said it will always be there and will not ebb or flow like institutional churches.

MacArthur went on to challenge pastors, churches and Christians to stand up and be bold and he cited Romans 1 in the Bible to describe what he believes is happening culturally in America.

“Romans 1 describes exactly what is happening in America … it defines the wrath as God giving them over, giving them over, giving them over,” he said.

But the preacher noted that there is hope in God and that it’s still possible for Christians to stand up and help draw people to the Lord.

There is only one God, one truth, one Word, and it is found in the Bible (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth). Pastor MacArthur’s words are well formed and delivered.

These are the churches telling God how it is, rather than submitting to what God said it is, and that NEVER ends well.

God is Love, but God is also Law.

One without the other and you have error and confusion that leads to death.

Have we ever been more confused than we are now in this valley of death?

“Romans 1 describes exactly what is happening in America … it defines the wrath as God giving them over, giving them over, giving them over,”

And an extremely heavy weight placed upon the believers at the same time because we have to endure and suffer under these people's delusions.

That's the worst part. It doesn't say that in the bible but it's true. While these people skip and dance merrily through life living under their delusions, indulging on sin and approving of others sin, it creates a living hell for the believer...

A very good article - thanks for the post.
He's correct in that this Country was founded on a strong 'cultural' Christian world-view. A cultural world-view that has been pretty much crushed by the Schools and Media - and by Seminaries that have launched a bevy of Bible denying pastors onto unsuspecting Churches.
But true Christianity remains. Empires rise and fall, but Christ's believers will persevere.
In the mean time we 'occupy until He comes', and we pray for our Nation, and the true Believers sprinkled throughout the world.

I would venture to guess, that the churches that tolerate homosexuality, probably have more issues that they are on the wrong side of as well.

Actually, the Bible does say we will suffer for righteousness sake. Jesus said we would be persecuted just like He was persecuted. There is an incredible amount of scripture describing the persecution we will suffer. Unfortunately, most pastors refuse to teach them.

It all starts with undermining the authority of Scripture. That can be done several ways, one is saying that Scripture is out of date. It was written to people a long time ago and we are somehow more enlightened. Or it is a book about God written by people, not inspired by God for His people.

And then the more blatant one is God didn't say that, just ignoring what is clearly written.

There were symptoms of problems before the recent apostasy. Ordaining women comes to mind.

They transcribed one of his quotes as “diluted” when it should’ve been transcribed “deluded.” Christ, in Matthew 7:21-23, perfectly describes these self-deluded false prophets, and their terrible end.

More like “Pitching Their Tent Next To Sodom”.

90% of the mainline denominations in America today aren't pitching their tents next to Sodom, their "tents" are actually big brick buildings on Main Street where liberal pastors preach a watered down "feel good" social gospel that doesn't even resemble biblical Christianity.

Easy.

In Matthew 7:21-23 Christ condemned to hell those who do not do the will of the Father in heaven. Nobody can accuse those who call the Father a liar, claiming that there’s nothing wrong with homosexuality, abortion, etc., are doing the will of the Father. They’re engaging in the crime of false prophecy, claiming God didn’t say something He said, and saying He said something He didn’t say. And that’s precisely what Christ was condemning to hell.

That whole passage in Matthew 7, from verse 15 to verse 23, is Christ condemning false prophets. Verses 21-23 are just a continuation of that condemnation. There’s nothing inherently wrong with casting out demons in God’s name, nor doing wonderful works in God’s name. There is something profoundly wrong with prophesying falsely in His name, however, which Christ listed first in verse 22.

He’s dead on on this one.

This moral decline, which is what’s going to result in God’s judgment on America, is progressing at breakneck speed.

Jonathan Cahn has been calling for repentance in no uncertain terms and instead of heeding him, we are rushing headlong into destruction.

There is NO indication that the government has any inclination to heed that call, so they are sealing our doom.

Actually, the Bible does say we will suffer for righteousness sake.

That's true. I was trying to point out that when God let these people go, he also increased the suffering of people who are believers. Some of us suffer for the faith, the rest live under the weight of the godless heathens. When more people go the way of the heathen, more weight is added to the believer. It's getting tough to endure listening to people like Harry Reid or Obama lie but it's made worse when more people willingly follow them. It's like an ever increasing army.

The health, wealth, and prosperity preachers are preaching just opposite of this.

Their message is certainly not Biblical.

Jesus told us we'd be persecuted and in this world have tribulation, and they're telling us it's our best life now.

Well, I have news for those who follow them, it IS their best life now.

They need to repent and follow Christ.
