1 Peter 2:13-25 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
*Honor Authority*
13 Submit yourselves for the Lords sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority,
14 or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.
15 For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.
16 Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bondslaves of God.
17 Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.
18 Servants, be submissive to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and gentle, but also to those who are unreasonable.
19 For this finds favor, if for the sake of conscience toward God a person bears up under sorrows when suffering unjustly.
20 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and suffer for it you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.
*Christ Is Our Example*
21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,
22 who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth;
23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously;
24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
17 Honor all people...

As a Christian, I want to obey The Word of God, but verse 17 in that passage has bothered me for decades. How do you honor a child molester, a drug dealer, people who destroy families and lives.....? How does one “honor” them?
You honor the office, not the person.
One of the reasons Our Lord was silent before Herod was because of his generally awful behaviour.
In this country, the Constitution, not the president, not the judges are the Supreme Law of the land, and that subject to Natural Law, which Scripture also tells us about.
I am as you are and not your teacher.
It means this much at least: Defraud no one. Lie to and deceive no one. Speak the truth with love to everyone.
These are parts of honoring all people.
Our interactions with higher authorities are very limited and when there’s an opportunity, we ought to allow the Holy Spirit to speak through our lips which should bless and not curse.
Then said He unto them, But now, he that hath a purse let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword let him sell his garment and buy one. Luke 22:36
Ephesians 6:17 New American Standard Bible
And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Guess there never should have been an American Revolution.
Matthew 13:46
45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls,
46 and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
(Hope you can discern my answers to you via these quotations.)
Agreed. Wasn’t trying to argue, but I find those particular scriptures difficult to live by given our current leaders and wonder if they apply to evil leaders.

But if when you do what is right and suffer for it (and?) you patiently endure it, this finds favor with God.
“whenever, then, the ruler encourages them that do evil, and is a terror to those that do well, i.e. as soon as he becomes a tyrant, he forfeits his authority to govern , and becomes the minister of Satan, and as such , ought to be opposed.” Samuel West — Election Sermon May 29,1776 —The Patriots Handbook —George Grant PhD pp119—152 -quote from p.135. or as it is written “Cursed is the man who puts his trust in man,who makes flesh his arm,and is turned from God.”Jeremiah 17:5— or as Peter and the other apostles answered and said “We ought to obey God rather than men....”Acts 5:29( see Acts 4: and : for context.. I agree we ought obey those in authority— but -we ought NOT ever let such obedience turn us from God.
Good answers, both. Thanks.
Another possibility:
Make friends with an amiable Muslim, or even one who can act the part.
Have him be “on call”. Take lunch before the last head when you see Miss Wannamancut in the waiting area.
Then have “Mohammad” (acting as barber) state in no uncertain terms that he will not touch, much less cut the hair of said woman, and that she is dressed like a whore (regardless of what she is wearing), that the Prophet declares that she should be accompanied by a husband or male relative if she insists on being in public, and that she should leave before she brings further dishonor on herself. If she still insists, have him bring out the clippers with a 3 foot extension rod and see if she stays in the chair to see what he does next.
Sorry, posted to wrong thread!
Yowwee!
What thread is that one supposed to be in? Gotta go check it out...
