The Assumption of Mary in History[Catholic Caucus]
Catholic Answers | 8-14-2015 | Tim Staples

As we approach the great Feast of the Assumption of Mary, and having written a post on the biblical evidence for the Assumption of Mary this time last year, I thought I would change gears and consider the historical evidence for the Assumption in honor of this year's Feast Day.

In summary, the doctrine of the Assumption of Mary began with an historical event that is alluded to in Scripture and has been believed in the Church for 2,000 years. It was passed down in the Oral Tradition of the Church and developed over the centuries, but it was always believed by the Catholic faithful. Let us examine the facts:

We need to distinguish between the Immaculate Conception and the Assumption of Mary. Both are integrally related and is central to Catholic belief and salvation.

As the poster/orignator of this article, I ask you and all to respect the Caucus title until the Religion Moderator can correct the tilted apple cart. In other words, be mature and respectful. Especially steelfish and fatheroffive, Caucus rules dictate that you cannot refer to other denominations or faiths! Comprende Steelfish and FatherofFive?

Because of Caucus Rules, I will not post a rebuttal.

your theology/biology or personal take on history here. As a non-Catholic you are not welcome.

Thanks, today is the Feast of the Assumption.
I thought I’d post something for that today out of respect for my heavenly mother. In addition, I posted it as a Catholic caucus to hopefully insure against abuses in here.
However both sides of the aisle seem not to contain themselves. It wasnt posted so you could debate with others!
