Pope Francis Calls for More Church Openness

ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay— Pope Francis called for a more welcoming Catholic church, open even to those don’t accept its teachings, as he preached at a large open-air Mass on the last day of a weeklong South American tour.

Speaking to hundreds of thousands of people at a military air base on the outskirts of Paraguay’s capital city on Sunday, the pontiff taught a lesson in how the church should—and shouldn’t—attempt to spread the Gospel.

He called for “welcoming those who do not think as we do, who do not have faith or who have lost it, at times through our own fault. Welcoming the persecuted, the unemployed. Welcoming the different cultures, with which this land is so richly blessed. Welcoming sinners.”

Sounds like a big tent kind-of-a-thing, which never works.

Or sounds like Unitarian Universalists, who believe in everything and nothing.

Into membership? If yes, good luck with that.

“You do not convince people with arguments, strategies or tactics. You convince them by learning how to welcome them,” he said on Sunday. “For that, it is necessary to keep doors open, above all the doors to the heart.”

Emotional mumbo-jumbo. For a Pope you would think he would have a greater understanding of the sin nature.

As a practicing Roman Catholic I feel I need to remind everyone that this institution has had all kinds of bad popes and when they forget the admonition “My Kingdom Is Not Of This World” .This church gets into all sorts of trouble. But survives.

These meandering homilys of This pope on temporal matters diffuse any theologic message Pope Francis offers. Snowballs should be thrown at those pointy hat supporters of his as well as opposition clearly expressed to those meanderings on any visit Francis may make here.

Time to retire Pope Francis, one way or other. This man is evil. He is the anti-Pope out to destroy the Catholic Church with the twin heresies of Liberation Theology and Social Justice. fracis must go.

Not this Vatican II BS all over again. I mean, it worked so well the first time. At this rate, he’ll have to change his name to Pope Barack.

You guys (I’m a Protestant) have a large number of gay priests if what I have read is correct, and I have also heard that it was a faction of Vatican homosexuals who got the ball rolling on the replacement of Benedict. Are these two things true to your knowledge?

Can’t reach someone with the Word if you expect them to already have all your beliefs before you will talk/associate with them.....Of course, the assumption is that the Catholic Church is actually more interested in carrying the Word than maintaining “purity in the laity”...

If Jorge would give just one (just one) speech and quote the Bible, I would be shocked. He could give this verse to a spiritually thirsty world:

"Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

John 14: 6

But, Jorge won't do that. He is the False Prophet.

Devil seems to be winning.
Luring people with trinkets, abandoning God, where does it end?
In Hell, if people do not wake up and return to Christ’s teachings.
Pray and return home to church, God help US!

I strongly suspect that the Catholic Church is in a great deal more trouble than many traditional Catholics may believe. This destruction has been brought to your door by expediency masked as wisdom. We all have our blind spots.

Speaking of blind spots, Protestants have a few of our own, unstable leadership structures being one. Perhaps we should get together, compare notes on where we have both gone wrong, and learn from one another before it all goes very VERY wrong.

There seem to be factions within your church that feel they have you all figured, so let us help you throw them a few curve balls :)

"The bishops also debated a recognition of positive aspects of so-called irregular relationships, including those between unmarried or same-sex partners."

Ouch. I can't help but think there's definitely an agenda at work here and ordinary Catholics are being set up.

Which seemingly will suffice for him until islamists come crashing through the Vatican's gates.

The socialists/Marxists have adopted the Muslim death cultists as allies in their war on Western Civilization. Silly people, the Muslims aren't your allies. They intend to murder all infidels (unbelievers) and that includes godless secularist socialists/Marxists.
