Cardinals Dolan and O’Malley! Meet Bishop Slattery!
Restore DC Catholicism ^ | June 12, 2015 | Restore DC Catholicism

Too often it is necessary to expose the horrid misbehaviors of prelates such as Cardinal Dolan. You might recall that he was Grand Marshall of New York's last St Patrick Day parade that featured a gay group strutting their perversion. In light of that, it is refreshing to see a prelate taking his vocation as bishop seriously and standing up to mortal sin instead of celebrating it.

Bishop Edward Slattery of Tulsa OK recently pulled his diocese out of a partnership with the Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice after the latter became a sponsor of the city's "gay pride" parade there last Saturday. He rightly concluded that continued alliance with this group would send a message of support for the gay agenda. In his words, "I'm the bishop and I have to be the bishop."

Well said, Bishop Slattery! Please stand strong and know that God will bless your fidelity. Many of your brother prelates would do well to emulate your example!

Bishop Slattery is already catching politically-correct flak for his stance. Please thank him and let him know you support him by visiting the diocesan website.

The loathsome Cardinal Dolan. Surely, one of the worst in my lifetime.

Sorry. You can dislike stances on gays being able to march in a parade, but it’s nothing compared to other church messes. Gays marchin is not even close to the worst. Many cardinals harbored pedophiles and prior to Dolan becoming Milwaukee’s archbishop, their archbishop not only harbored pedophiles but misled the diocese as he transferred money to his gay lover. No, sorry, there have been far worse people running Catholic dioceses in this country.

I speak for myself and my own experiences - as you do for yours. Dolan is a disgrace. The Cardinal of NYC should be a preeminent man of the clothe, not a glad handing yet backstabbing phony.

Condemning one sort of error does not mean that we should tolerate a slightly different error. Dolan gives the appearance of being corrupt. Wuerl is definitely corrupt. The fact that others have done wrong does not excuse them.

The position of Archbishop of NY from its inception has and will continue to be a political position. With the possible exception of Terence Cardinal Cooke every archbishop from Dagger John Hughes to Timothy Dolan has been a politician seeking the best possible material benefit for his community.Like all politicians they made alliances with people and groups who were/are less than pure. Catholics you must remember here in America have been and still are subject to varying levels of persecution and intimidation. Often found in this forum. So defending the Faithful and working to obtain full rights and benefits as Americans has been a goal of American prelate from the days of John Carroll.

I wouldn’t dispute that. Dolan is still a major creep - just my opinion, of course.

P.S.: No one forged more alliances than John O’Connor. He was very close friends with the powerful mayor of NY. He did not march in gay parades and did not put up with the disgusting actions of Act Up. Dolan wants to be loved. Somehow, I doubt he is.

Milwaukee’s archbishop harbor end pedophiles and Dolan cam in after the carnage and settled things down as best he could. Sorry but allowing gays to march is some dumb parade is not the same as allowing a pedophile priest in three of the parishes I went to just isn’t the same. Those priests permanently damaged people I knew. The damage done by gays walking in a parade simply pales by comparison. Dolan brought calm and goodwill to Milwaukee. He may not be perfect, but he sure didn’t harbor criminals.

You can take him back to Milwaukee if you’re so pleased with him.

guys...please....we had serious issues here and you’re complaining about gays marching in a parade. People had their lives ruined by priests who fondled and fornicated with them. It’s just not the same....but rag on him all you’d like. I’m just glad he swept out the problems here

Excuse me but the people MARCHING IN THE GAY PARADE ARE THE PEOPLE MOLESTING LITTLE BOYS. That’s why Catholics - in a St. Patrick’s Day Parade, for God’s sake, should not be marching with them. And for the Cardinal of New York City? It’s a disgrace.

I’m thrilled you like him. I dislike him and so do a hell of a lot of New Yorkers.

I should have mentioned from the outset that I'm not in favor of gays marching in the damn parade, I'm just more concerned about pedophiles. And while the studies out there are less than 100% clear....and this'll sound like psychobabble, pedophiles are men who are sexually attracted to children. Being gay doesn't have anything to do with it, according to psychiatric research. Apparently, homosexuals make of 7% of child molesters....but if you use the statistics that suggest approximately 3% of men are gay, then they clearly are a higher percentage, but not the only people who molest little boys.

I'm done trying to make the point, it's just that gays by and large are not the largest segment of the population who molest kids.
