**...lack of respect for parents and other elders...**

Excellent point! It really does take a village to raise a child: older siblings; aunts and uncles; TEACHERS, and anyone else in authority- and parents with enough sense to avail themselves of that help. From this comes respect for others, discipline, and self-respect. Thank God for all the people who cared enough to say, "hey, that's not right," and all the parents who backed them up!

I usually start with the 10 commandments and the precepts of the Church and balance that against the Jansensist impulses that still plague the Church.
