As world Catholicism’s gravity shifts away from Western Europe and towards the developing world, listening to Africans like Cardinal Robert Sarah may be something that even the most hidebound of liberal German theologians won’t be able to avoid in the future.

This was predicted over 2,000 years ago. It said that in the latter days, even the elites will fade away from the teachings of their fore fathers and commit heresy.

It is comforting to me, more than ever, to know that the Church is universal and that the Western compromises laid on the Church are not the center of the universe after all, nor are the disobedient Western churches the universal standard.

The humble and courageous, the devout and pious are generally to be found under the tutelage of the believing, practicing, holy shepherds of the poor, still guided by the Holy Spirit. God bless dear Cardinal Sarah, and the many others. I keep them in prayer with great love for them in my heart.

“Interview: Cardinal Sarah on Liturgical Wars, Criticism of the Pope, and Islam”

http://www.aleteia.org/en/religion/article/interview-cardinal-sarah-on-liturgical-wars-criticism-of-the-pope-and-islam-5803781526650880

Cardinal Sarah: “A conclave is an action of God, it is God who gives a Pope to the Church. God gave us Francis to lead the Church today.”

Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict): “I would not say so, in the sense that the Holy Spirit picks out the Pope. ... I would say that the Spirit does not exactly take control of the affair, but rather like a good educator, as it were, leaves us much space, much freedom, without entirely abandoning us. Thus the Spirit’s role should be understood in a much more elastic sense, not that he dictates the candidate for whom one must vote. Probably the only assurance he offers is that the thing cannot be totally ruined.”

“There are too many contrary instances of popes the Holy Spirit obviously would not have picked!”

We must listen to the Holy Spirit: the heirarchy is no exception. It’s pretty clear that the heirarchy has not been listening to the Holy Spirit since Vatican II.
