I am praying for him.
My wife was abused as a child and as the years went on she became worse. She went off the deep end back in 2002 and my life has been pretty bad since but I stayed to protect our children. I have been married for 33 years now and it has never been very good.
I pray your son has the strength to stay with it because women usually get the children in a divorce even if they are totally batsh!t crazy and they will ruin the children’s lives. Please tell him to ask God for strength every single day as it is He who will help him get through the troubled times.

I would suggest a thyroid test for your daughter-in-law. Hyperthyroidism can frequently cause irrational behavior, and mimic mental problems. At least worth a try.

Prayers up. Mental health professionals will do them more good than my prayers today. Encourage him to embrace the treatments and trust the pros. They have done wonders for my family.

Yes, I will pray along with the FReeper prayer squadron. Here's a prayer to St. Dymphna I've used frequently. She is the helper of the mentally ill, and she has been of great help to so many:

If you search mental illness + diet, you'll find lots of good information. There is a connection between leaky gut syndrome and mental illness, autism, etc.

Heavenly Father, you made marriage a sacrament, casting upon it holy graces.
Provide those graces now, to this marriage, and healing to this family.
In Your name we pray, Amen.

My prayers are for all of you. My daughter’s marriage is in similar crisis.
Medical help is necessary, and your DIL will need support holding to the medicine regimen. Your son will hold up better if he has a professional to help him cope: counseling ( many people have been through this before), spiritual support, support group, backup with the children.
Seek sustenance for yourselves to maintain your own good health. Monitor your grandchildren’s wellbeing. They may need similar, age-appropriate counseling, and a safe place to go during the rages. God bless you all.
