Well, the dissenters from Francisismo have church history on their side, but it is kinda sorta quasi protestant.

I gave up protestantism because of the fifth Sola - sola ego ipse. The only REALLY validating Bible interpretation is one I agree with (under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, of course), therefore, the guarantor of Truth is - I agree with me.

If all of the scriptural interpretations that appear in, for example, a small Christian school with 100 students and their families are sub spiritu sancti, then the Holy Spirit is a jokester or a nut, both of which are implausible.

Francis has not yet adopted the Eastern Orthodox view of communion for the divorced and remarried, but it seems quite likely that he wants to do so, and, if he does, the dissenters of the Burke school will have an unpalatable choice to make.

Interesting times.

How is it “quasi Protestant”? The Pope is the guardian of the Faith, it isn’t his to change at a whim. He’s the Protestant, because he’s going against the constant teaching of all of his predecessors.

Tradition ! I was in the pit band in HS in "Fiddler" production, got to know the words as well as the actors. It was fun. Tradition !

Of course, the Bible consistently teaches rejection of the traditions of men and instead living according to the Word of God, the Bible.

To say the members of a simple congregation can not have an adequate understanding of Scripture, but the "official Roman Catholic Church" can is an ad hominum fallacy.

The Roman Catholic teaching is to not debate or discuss Scripture with protestants, but to deny that protestants can legitimately debate or discuss Scripture.

Evne though the Holy Spirit dwells within the heart of every believer, according to Roman Catholics the Holy Spirit will keep the heart of true believer blind to the truths of Scripture, unless that true believer is a member of the clergy.

Only the magical magisterium knows Scripture.

Certainly the Roman Catholic Church loves it when its activist members push the "few bad apples" theory in the public sphere. You can bash bishops and cardinals in social media all day long. As long as you also promote the idea that the magical magisterium as a whole is the one and only place to get truth from. You know, aside from the few bad apples.
