Worship and Love God. It is really that simple.
Try to discern His Will. Know that some day you will be on his shoulder and laughing about this world.
The rest is all man made.
Agreed. Very much in the present moment—shoot from the hip with regards to what God seems to want NOW and do not worry about tomorrow. If one’s position seems to demand that one say something to someone, do one’s best and be done with it. It will also lead to a better understanding of why, back when there was a better understanding of Ignatian Spirituality among non-Jeusits, no Jesuit was ever in danger of becoming Pope. If one is in the seventh mansion, the spirituality in its purest form works well.
That would be a very good idea. For all of us!
1) Remind yourself that the pope was probably misunderstood by liberals, or conservatives, depending on which side you are on, like as you do with their interpretation of church teaching, for which they often look the non-infallible words and actions of popes and prelates.
2) If the pope seems to be speaking as a liberal and you are a conservative, remind yourself that the pope was not speaking infallibly, then to counter him quote a conservative pope who also was not speaking infallibly.
3) If you are a liberal then remind yourself that the pope is overall making you feel even more comfortable. If you are a conservative, remind yourself that if the pope really is a far left liberal then you can become, even if perhaps informally, part of the SSPX or SSPV sects, or the beloved EO schism.
4) If you are a liberal then tell liberal Prots they are brothers, but warn them of the evangelicals who vote too much as a block against liberal PC politicians and oppose liberal values more than Catholics. If you are a conservative, continue to attack evangelicals as hopelessly divided and your foremost single theological threat, and promote the pope and prelates as the interpretive solution to sects and division.
Pope Francis is speaking to the press many of whom are not Catholic or even religious so it makes sense that he speaks to them differently then he would say the Curia. Also Pope Francis is not well versed in English, if he knows much at all. Plus he has wolves trying to get that "gotcha" question and answer so they can go write their tripe and twist it to fit which ever agenda they need it to.
Also I might add, being South American and Spanish brings a new flavor to the Papacy. The European and American press will have to deal with that. He's not European. The Europeans look down on South America and North America so it's hardly a surprise. So in short this Catholic is not concerned let alone devastated by anything he has said. My job is to hear what he says meditate on it, pray over it and for him and worship Jesus Christ. Easy Peasy!
Caucus threads usually get very very few responses except for a certain poster posting dozens of posts to herself.
Apparently the Pope's uncouth communication style is contagious.
I was not aware that we gave a rip about response numbers.
In all the business of the kingdom, I exhort you to show just judgement and keen wisdom. Present not that which is holy to dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, less they trample your gems under foot and turn to rend you.
Pull my finger?
Check out "Francis' Little Book of Insults" and look up the full context in which they were spoken. Francis has no ill words towards Jews, Muslims , Protestants or pagans. He directs all his pithy criticisms towards his fellow Catholics, especially the sour-pussed, Neo-Pelagian rosary-counters.
It gives the sedavacantists something to help reassure themselves?
Nominee for newly-coined "Catholic word of the day" ---
The book got it's own thread!
The Pope Francis Little Book of Insults
And the little book is growing, day by day, as long as Humble Jorge speaks.
Soon it will renamed the “Big Book of Insults”.
Heck; just ONE would work!
Pope Stephen VI (896897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]
Pope John XII (955964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.
Pope Benedict IX (10321044, 1045, 10471048), who "sold" the Papacy
Pope Boniface VIII (12941303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy
Pope Urban VI (13781389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]
Pope Alexander VI (14921503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]
Pope Leo X (15131521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]
Pope Clement VII (15231534), also a Medici, whose power-politicking with France, Spain, and Germany got Rome sacked.
