A Catholic priest in Germany has been banned from giving sermons or representing the church after speaking at a Pegida rally.
Father Paul Spaetling, from the Diocese of Munster, told the rally that Europe had spent over a thousand years fighting against Islam.
He said that he did not agree that Islam had a place in the country, which the German chancellor had said.

So he sees the light..sees that Islam is counter to the teachings of Christ...and gets banned.
Well..I would be the first in line to recieve communion from him....because I would truly know that he defends and believes in Christ and that the blessing was true.
This new Pope and his counsel is not doing what it should to protect Christians and The Church....disappointing tonsaybthe least...
Bring back the crusades bump!
I would take it farther than Father Paul Spaetling; I would say Islam has no home anywhere that people want peace.
But it's not necessarily a good idea for priests to get publicly involved in politics, and saying that Muslims need to get out of Germany is a particularly sensitive kind of politics in that country, for obvious reasons.

Father Spaetling is right. And he knows by Whom his truth-telling will be vindicated.
GOD bless him for his courage.
I just don’t understand this “charm offensive” toward Islam. Has it ever worked anywhere it has been tried?
Has it ever worked anywhere it has been tried?
It’s the same way with socialism; NO!
Ans yet do they excomunicate Dolan for marching with the sodomites? SUPPORT THIS PRIEST!
Yes, God bless him. He does need however to distance himself from those in PEGIDA who have neo-Nazi leanings. It would go a long way if he would come out with a statement of such.
If the Pope didn’t ban him what do the Germans do, run the Church too?
yeah...I was thinking back on various other commentators from the Catholic Church that spoke out against Islam - from either quoting former Pope’s to certain bishops...
(1) The Christian European West barely escaped destruction at the hands of the Moslems. At one point they were stopped near Tours and at another point, later on in time, outside the gates of Vienna. The Church throughout northern Africa was practically destroyed by Moslem power, and at the present hour, the Moslems are beginning to rise again.
Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, Mary and the Moslems, Chapter 17 of The Worlds First Love, 1953
(2) The Regensburg lecture was delivered on 12 September 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI at the University of Regensburg in Germany - quoted an unfavorable remark about Islam made at the end of the 14th century by Manuel II Palaiologos, the Byzantine emperor. ( Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached)
that was my path of thought....I know, Germany is in a tight space right now...with national socialism abundant - and not wanting the swastika returning...
The priest has not been defrocked, just told to refrain from acting as a spokesman on behalf of this group as he is a priest and by the very nature of that, the uninitiated will assume he (the priest) is speaking for the entire German Catholic Establishment. As long as the good Father obeys his Bishop as he vowed to do, he will be fine.
Hope this priest realizes he’s affiliated with the wrong Church...Jesus would approve of his sermon...
It wouldn't be a 'sensitive kind of politics' had your religion and the Lutherans stepped up and nipped it in the bud...
"If things go wrong, blame the Catholics for not interfering to stop it. If the Catholics interfere, blame them for interfering." -- is that what you're saying?
