Keep this one around for when "part 2" of the Synod comes around...

Can you get them to do a song parody/take-off on Dolan now -- maybe referring to his "Bravo-Sierra" (bravo-silly?) comments about that fruity football player?    (Maybe they could use the song "Rolling on the River", and call it "Dolan on the Big Queer", or something like that.)    :-)

I’d like to see John Vennari perform at the Vatican Christmas concert. As an entertainer, he leaves Patti Smith in the dust. His “Baldisseri” yodel is a particularly nice touch.

He’s actually pretty good on the guitar.

Uh... not a good idea, since the “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” was about an underaged kid having a homosexual relationship with an adult: “The mama pajama rolled out of bed/ And she ran to the police station/ When Ihe papa found out he began to shout/ And he started the investigation/ ... What the mama saw/ It was against the law./ The mama looked down and spit on the ground/ Everytime my name gets mentioned/ The papa said oy if I get that boy/ I’m gonna stick him in the house of detention.”

Oh, it gets worse: “And when the radical priest/ Come to get me released/ We was all on the cover of Newsweek.” Although I doubt Paul Simon connected the dots after the fact, the radical preacher on the cover of Newsweek running a shelter for “at-risk” youths was probably Fr. Paul Shanley, the most famous of pedophile priests, whose mishandling caused the downfall of Boston’s Bernard Cardinal Law.

Actually, considering the sordid content of the SinNod, I think it was an excellent idea.

He could even do a Christmas Carol there:

"Change the laws with Baldisseri, FA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!   ("Deck the halls with boughs of holly...")

(For some reason I don't think he will be invited though...)

:-)
