According to a Global Survey from Ipsos MORI, Americans think 56 percent of the country is Christian, when it is actually closer to 78 percent, and 15 percent of the country is Muslim, when it’s really just 1 percent.

“There are more Christians in America than you think”

It is my studied opinion that this is a fluid number that is highly dependent on the day of the week.

>>when it is actually closer to 78 percent

Yet only 1/3 of that 78% worship in church on Sunday. Nearly 100% of that 1% who are Muslim are worshiping Satan on Friday or whatever day it is that they worship. We still have the numbers on our side, but for how long once the Baby Boomers are gone?

Even with the lower number of 56%, don't you think it'd be a bit different if we followed James's commands?

Just look at the number of churches in any town. This is a CHRISTIAN country and we should not only be proud of it but glad too.

There are less Christians than you think based on the numbers.

People, especially here in the South, often claim to be a Christian for lack of any other good sounding choice.

And look around how many people are washing cars and cutting grass on Sunday.

Actually, there are less Christians than one would think. Our CULTURE doesn't bare out a percentage greater than 20%.

How did Obama get elected and re-elected? No true Christian would have voted for a President were abortion would be in play. "That is above my paygrade", would not have played.

Main line churches are now debating or outright accepting homosexuality. Pornography, lust, and sensuality are rampant and out of control.

We still think it is unconstitutional to promote Christian ethics at the state and local levels. We can't even get that right.

So I don't see greater than 20%. There are a lot of social conservatives; but don't confuse them with Christians. A 50% demographic of real Christians would result in a moral transformation of this country. As it stands, it's not happening.

....Yet there are glimmers of hope. The major voting outburst this past Tuesday shows that Americans and in a special way, those who are Christian have had enough.

I disagree. You are confusing the manifestation of social conservatives with Christians; a common mistake. We've been making that mistake for a long, long time.

There is only a remnant of Christians. "In God We Trust" makes us feel comfortable though.

You offered no evidence. No repentance, church growth, a call for orthodoxy, getting the Bible back into our schools, a demand for a national debate on the legitimacy for Islam in our nation, a demand for a constitutional amendment on marriage.....nothing.

Furthermore, the exit polls told us what this was about: our comfort and safety. Morality and spiritual awakening didn't make the list.

It is called taking America back, one step, one issue at a time.

It is MORE then just filling the pews of the churches.

There is only a remnant of Christians.

Around the founding of the country, the founders had to reject the demands of more than a few religious fruitcakes who demanded the nation be set up according to their personal congregational rituals and babblings. Thank God that they did not allow the establishment of any state religion. They created a nation where people can worship, or not, as they see fit.

78 percent of the population identify themselves as Christian, as is their right to do. No one, including the religious fruitcakes, can deprive them of their right to worship as they see fit, or to identify themselves as they see fit.

Just as for the muslims, when any religion does, or tries to, violate the rights of other citizens, I would join with other reasonable people to declare them not a religion, but a political tyrannical group that is not compatible with the US Constitution, not protected by our First Amendment, and not compatible with any human civilization.

Umm, you didn't take church history or American Government did you? Nothing prohibits the state from doing so. The Constitution only prohibited Congress from doing so at a federal level (1st Amendment); then there is the "Establishment Clause" which clearly gives the authority to the states via the 10th Amendment.

Thomas Jefferson did argue effectively for not having a state religion, but that was only for his state. South Carolina went its own way (among others).

But I'm not advocating for religion sponsored by the states (not federal); I am advocating for the free expression (which that has been cut off now). Also, if a state wanted to adopt an official religion, they are free to do so: the issue is, application; and that would be tricky.

And as for Islam, it cannot exist alongside Western Civilization without it eventually violently clashing with it when the numbers are appropriate to do so (see Europe), and read "Secrets of the Koran" by Don Richardson. Allen West has spoken most clearly on this. President Adams also knew this to be fact.

And I don't give a rip if 78% call themselves firetrucks. That doesn't make it so. Jesus set the standard: "Ye shall know them by their fruit". We don't even act like a Christian nation. That was my point.
