And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE. (Ezekiel 48:35)
TOPICS: Religion & Culture
KEYWORDS: america; military; pray
Father, we come to You, in the Name of Jesus, to praise You and to seek help.
Lord, we pray that You would protect all our military from all the threats against them threats of foreign fighters, of lone wolf attacks, of contracting Ebola in Africa.
Lord, we pray that You would provide help to those countries stricken with Ebola and make an end to this plague.
LORD, in the book of Your prophet Ezekiel we read the grim account of Your peoples unfaithfulness, of how they rejected You and sinned against You and each other. And we read of how You in turn rejected them, withdrawing Your glory and handing them over to invaders in punishment. Then we read the end of it all: how You who brings up the dead from their graves and makes dry bones to live restored Your people again. You have promised an inheritance and a sanctuary, lasting and secure; You have promised to set Your glory among mankind and build us a city whose name will be The LORD is there. We praise You, Lord, that in all Your wrath against sin, You renew Your compassion again and again, and You do not abandon or reject us. We pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, who has secured mercy for us, Amen.

First Response
Oct 25, 2014
Read: James 5:13-16
When my husband, Tom, was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery, I began to call family members. My sister and her husband came right away to be with me, and we prayed as we waited. Toms sister listened to my anxious voice on the phone and immediately said, Cindy, can I pray with you? When my pastor and his wife arrived, he too prayed for us (James 5:13-16).
Oswald Chambers wrote: We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defense. We pray when theres nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.
At its root, prayer is simply a conversation with God, spoken in the expectation that God hears and answers. Prayer should not be a last resort. In His Word, God encourages us to engage Him in prayer (Phil. 4:6). We also have His promise that when two or three are gathered together in His name, He will be there in the midst of them (Matt. 18:20).
For those who have experienced the power of the Almighty, our first inclination often will be to cry out to Him. Nineteenth-century pastor Andrew Murray said: Prayer opens the way for God Himself to do His work in us and through us.
When I come before His presence
In the secret place of prayer,
Do I know the wondrous greatness
Of His power to meet me there? Hallen
Pray first!
The book of James is often referred to as the Proverbs of the New Testament. This is an accurate description, for James is filled with practical advice for daily life as a Christian. In todays passage, James points out that prayer is the appropriate response to any situation. If we suffer, we should pray. If we are happy, we should pray. If we are sick, prayer is the response. James uses a device called merism, which describes the whole by its parts. He highlights the extremes of lifesuffering, happiness, sicknessto say that everything in between is included. Like Paul, James is telling us to pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17).

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE
"Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod" William Billings Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia (Click)
IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered his prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His Manifold Blessings upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who marched into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.
AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and gather them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

HEAVENLY FATHER, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these valiant men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your Loving Embrace, that You cause Your Countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.
