Lord, we pray that You would protect all our military from all the threats against them – threats of foreign fighters, of ‘lone wolf’ attacks, of contracting Ebola in Africa.
Lord, we pray that You would provide help to those countries stricken with Ebola and make an end to this plague.
LORD, in the book of Your prophet Ezekiel we read the grim account of Your people’s unfaithfulness, of how they rejected You and sinned against You and each other. And we read of how You in turn rejected them, withdrawing Your glory and handing them over to invaders in punishment. Then we read the end of it all: how You – who brings up the dead from their graves and makes dry bones to live – restored Your people again. You have promised an inheritance and a sanctuary, lasting and secure; You have promised to set Your glory among mankind and build us a city whose name will be ‘The LORD is there’. We praise You, Lord, that in all Your wrath against sin, You renew Your compassion again and again, and You do not abandon or reject us. We pray in the Name of Jesus Christ, who has secured mercy for us, Amen.
