“praying for the dead, for instance, and the intercession of the saints.”

These are consistent with pagan practice.

These are consistent with pagan practice.

So is eating meat, drinking wine, and kissing one's children. Point?

If you ask me to pray for you, is it my body that does it or my soul? Does my soul die when my body dies? If you think I have an everlasting soul and its my soul that does the praying, isn't it then consistent to treat all souls alike, whether or not the body is dead?

Praying for the dead — Pagan practice.

I must admit, that I have not attended a single funeral, either Protestant or Catholic, where the minister/priest did not pray for the repose of the deceased’s soul with God, and ask the assembled mourners to join in that prayer.

I, a Protestant, pray for the souls of those I know whose bodies have died to go to heaven and be joined with our Savior and His Father there.

Praying, period. --- is consistent with pagan practice. Wedding rings are consistent with pagan practice. Singing of hymns is consistent with pagan practice. Setting up web pages is consistent with pagan practice.

That something is consistent with pagan practice does not mean that it is ruled out for Christians.

So there must be more to our argument than that.

Typo. More to “your” argument than that.

“These are consistent with pagan practice.”

So is eating, drinking, sleeping, walking, talking, reading, praying, marrying, having a family, growing old, dying, etc.
