DER ZOR, Syria (A.W.)The Islamic State (also known as ISIS) destroyed the Armenian Genocide Memorial Church in Der Zor, news agencies in the Middle East reported.
The reports surfaced as Armenia was celebrating the 23rd anniversary of its independence on Sept. 21.
Armenias Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian issued a statement condemning the destruction of the church, which housed the remains of victims of the Armenian Genocide, calling it a horrible barbarity.
Nalbandian called upon the international community to cut the Islamic States sources of supply, support, and financing, and eradicate what it referred to as a disease that threatened civilized mankind.

ARMENIAN GENOCIDE - THE IGNORED HOLOCAUST

HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF
In April 1915 the Ottoman government embarked upon the systematic decimation of its civilian Armenian population.
The persecutions continued with varying intensity until 1923 when the Ottoman Empire ceased to exist and was replaced by the Republic of Turkey. The Armenian population of the Ottoman state was reported at about two million in 1915. An estimated one million had perished by 1918, while hundreds of thousands had become homeless and stateless refugees. By 1923 virtually the entire Armenian population of Anatolian Turkey had disappeared.
During the reign of the Sultan Abdul Hamid (Abdulhamit) II (1876-1909), a series of massacres throughout the empire meant to frighten Armenians and so dampen their expectations, cost up to three hundred thousand lives by some estimates and inflicted enormous material losses on a majority of Armenians.
The Turks practiced Islam and were a martial people. The Armenians, a Christian minority, lived as second class citizens subject to legal restrictions which denied them normal safeguards. Neither their lives nor their properties were guaranteed security. As non-Muslims they were also obligated to pay discriminatory taxes and denied participation in government.
ISIS is a bunch of MORONS
Islam unmasked.
You’d be surprised how many Armenians around the world support Islamics and are actually very anti-Israel and jews in general.
Unfortunately true. Armenian nationalism is very left wing and is historically very pro-PLO and anti-Israel.
Armenians aren’t really a nation per se though they’ve their own piece of land now. They’ve been dispersed around the world for decades, and have adopted some of the “specifics” from those lands in which they grew up in. Many were raised in the Lebanon and then in the Gulf States, UAE as an example to do business. Others in the West.
History is full of contradictions. Today, Israel and Jews have not stronger supporters than the Christians; but through history you have seen Jews allied to the Muslims against Christians in not rare occasions, as it happened during the Muslim conquest of Christian Spain and Portugal in the 8th century.
All in all, all I can say is that I never take anything for granted.
How many people died in the Armenian Genocide?
There were an estimated two million Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire on the eve of WWI. Approximately one and a half million Armenians perished between 1915 and 1923. Another half million found shelter abroad. - See more at: http://www.genocide-museum.am/eng/armenian_genocide.php#sthash.t90VB4l3.dpuf
Picture showing Armenians killed during the Armenian Genocide. Image taken from Ambassador Morgenthau's Story, written by Henry Morgenthau, Sr. and published in 1918. Original description: "THOSE WHO FELL BY THE WAYSIDE. Scenes like this were common all over the Armenian provinces, in the spring and summer months of 1915. Death in its several forms---massacre, starvation, exhaustion---destroyed the larger part of the refugees. The Turkish policy was that of extermination under the guise of deportation"
A core mission of ISIS is to produce “good Christians,” which they define as “dead Christians.”
It’s a repeat performance. Those who do not learn from history are forced to repeat it. Years ago, one of my co-workers described the Armenian genocide; her father was one of those fortunate enough to escape. Now it is being played out again, this time in Iraq.
