Publik Skools have the Common Corruption Curriculum that teaches the 3 R’s: Recycling, Reproduction and Rebellion. Home schools lack such “socializing” courses.

“Socializing”
We joke about “socializing” our homeschooled children. Once a week I shove then against the wall and steal their lunch money.

These Christian Children that were homeschooled probably KNOW more about the left’s much vaunted theories on eveolution than the Publich School Children have Forgotten or Never even LEARNED about that same theory....

Even though the Christian Children may not agree with it...

They still KNOW MORE about it!

Socializing in Public Schools these days is more like Acting like an animal than it is being Social....

Homeschooled kids proabably socialize more with adults growing up and so they DO BETTER WHEN THEY GROW UP!!!!

Instead of behaving like feral animals like most of the Yutes in Publicks Skrewholes...

I went to public skrool and I didn’t socialize much because all my peers were jack asses... I socialized more with the teachers because I was vary mature for my age...

public school unions used to laugh and ridicule homeschool kids.

They don’t laugh any more.

Instead they try to deny access to homeschoolers so the poor quality of public school teachers is not exposed.

“Socializing” We joke about “socializing” our homeschooled children. Once a week I shove then against the wall and steal their lunch money.

This last weekend I was discussing home schooling with a close friend. "Socializing" was the reason he and his wife are planning on sending their daughter to public school rather than home school. I told them about a child I had known since birth that was home schooled and his parents sent him to public school every day to take one class. This was to "socialize" him. Here is a link to a 2010 article about my friend's son, Luke, and an excerpt from the article. (Not trying to hi-jack this thread)

Studen Faces Attempted Murder Charges

excerpt: Kendall is a home-schooled student who takes one class at the school. Kendall also is a member of the school's ROTC program and is on the track and swim teams.

I don’t need to read all the way through this vile slop to know that it is full of bigoted ignorance, but that is all Salon is.

education with huge gaps, for example, in American history, evolution or sexuality

I think we all know what the author would consider "gaps" in these areas...

American history - teaching a pro-American history Evolution - not teaching it as unquestionable fact Sexuality - not teaching "sex positive agenda" and homosexuality

Yeah, I’m sure they wouldn’t accept an argument that since there are some failing public school kids, we need to abandon that system.

My answer:

“We’re not raising socialists”

The article is so anecdotal...she complains about “illiterate” homeschooled students, without mentioning that the public school system is turning out a substantial percentage of functionally illiterate graduates.

My siblings and I homeschooled our children. And those “children” are now homeschooling their children.

If the author wants to be “anecdotal”...our homeschooled kids all went to college, most on scholarship. They earned Bachelors and Masters. Careers? Among them are a couple Engineers from mainline Tech schools (GATech, etc.), an MBA with a job at a Fortune 100 company, an officer in the US Army who attended a military academy, and a pilot for a major US airlines.

Not meant to brag, because I know a dozen other home schooled families with “kids” who have excelled in their educations and careers. I’m not saying there are no homeschool failures because there are. However, this author is cherry picking but she’s choosing to pick only “bad” fruit.

Possible. Hopefully you can understand the confusion when the article states; “enrolled her six school-age children in public school after 18 years OF TEACHING THEM at home.” Kind of makes it seem they are talking about the six.

At any rate, thanks.

You are leaving out some key “socializing” events which are lessons often received by kids in public schools, such as:

1. Giving/selling drugs, cigarettes and alcohol to your kids
2. Promoting promiscuity and “alternative” sexual practices to your kids
3. Teaching your kids obscene language

How can you deprive your kids of these so important areas of “socialization?” You are only covering bullying.

Having homeschooled all six of our children....

I have to say if there is that big a gap in education levels they aren’t doing it right....or in other words should not be homeschooling in the first place...

It is not for the faint of heart...

We found all of our kids when we pulled first them out of public school were actually one to two years behind...

Unschooling is the biggest educational crock of dung to come around in a long time...

——Many people have a deep seated fear of home and private schooling.

Lol.... I never forget the hour long lecture I got from my mother when we announced we were homeschooling our children....

It was like I had committed a crime...

That was 25 years ago.... It was actually illegal in Texas at the time...

But we had enough of the perversions they were ramming down our children throats ...

We have lost friends over it.

They either say that our children will be “to religious” (I have had quite a few church going folk tell me that) or that going to a private school will hurt their athletic opportunities, and that is the most important.

Oh, and my personal favorite. “You don’t want your kids to be smart. No one likes a smart person, which is why you have such problems in life Red”.

This was from a serial divorcee. I guess she is made that my bride and I are ten years married and like each other.
