Wow, didn’t know that the church lead Noah and Lot astray. Goes back much further than I thought.

The only parade I attend now is the Veteran’s Day parade in our town. I stopped going to my college alma mater’s parade when the gay groups started marching in it. That was it - done. I’ll never attend again. Mr S and I get out of town that day.

The clergy should not participate and it (and the Al Smith Dinner) should be cancelled, or at any rate as regards official Church presence.

That’s exactly what the perceptive Msgr. Pope said today on his blog. Why are Catholics participating in things that have turned into a direct affront to the Church’s moral and social positions?

I agree with you: time to stop all parades - they have become politic freak shows. If people can’t live and let live, maybe they don’t deserve to live, lol! Thank YOU, Cloudie, for your feedback. I always enjoy your posts.

Wonder which Pope elevated Dolan to cardinal status.

Drunkenness is also a sin and that’s what St. Patrick’s Day Parade is used for, an excuse to get drunk.

Shouldn’t be surprised it led to this.

As sinful and scandalous as this development is, it pales in comparison with Dolan’s insistence on giving Communion to baby-murderers. Dolan gave a “shout-out” to Joe Biden at Mass in St. Patrick’s just months ago.

I eagerly await the photos showing Dolan as Grand Marshal, followed by naked men and women. I hope the gay group is that stupid. Erin Go Bra-less!

And Msgr. Pope’s blog post got yanked. I am sure for two reasons:

1) Dolan blew a gasket;

2) Wuerl doesn’t want any discussion that gets so close to the issue of giving Communion to Pelosi, Biden, etc. Wuerl is absolutely determined on this question: Pro-aborts are to be given Communion. Which is Dolan’s position as well.

Dolan certainly could take a lesson on how to not knuckle under from this man. I guess it all depends on one’s level of faith.

I think it’d be useful and save a lot of trouble if every bishop had at least one friend and/or colleague whom he could trust to say “this is a really bad idea, boss”. Cardinal Mahony needed one, and I’m really, really starting to think Cardinal Dolan needs one, stat.

Perhaps the good Cardinal needs a REAL friend to take him to an AA meeting.

The more I read about him, the more I wonder if he really is addicted to booze.

I believe Cardinal O’Connor was a Red Sox fan. One year their opening day game was scheduled for Good Friday at 3:05 PM. Cardinal O’Connor asked them if they could please move the game start time to 4:05 PM. They refused and so the Cardinal didn’t go to any of their games that year. Cardinal O’Connor was a man of unbending principle.

One reason The Lord is probably going to permit persecution here is that too many Christians are too intertwined with the world. The marginalizing of Church teaching because of a television contract! One time a member of my parish, which like many parishes needs gobs of money weekly, said that Pro-Life petitions were not read at Sunday Mass in order not to offend the Pro-Choice parishioners!

All,

It seems to me that a lot of us are having “knee-jerk” reactions to this news (parade and the cause for Bishop Sheen). There is much judging of the character of people ...without fully knowing all of the circumstances.

Let us pray for God’s will to prevail and then beg God to make us all holy people of virtue....who really trust HIM...no matter what happens.

Msgr Pope's comment about his deleted blog post (from here):
Msgr. Charles Pope says:

Bless you all for your prayers and encouragement. I hope you will understand if I cannot continue to post your comments on the parade article here. I will read them but cannot post them, I will send you an e-mail gratitude.

I ask your charity and understanding for the Archdiocese of Washington which has always generously sponsored this blog and been supportive of our conversations.

I also hope you will understand if I cannot explain why it was removed.

I am a loyal son of the Church and I love my Archdiocese.

Ok so I messed up on a sentence.. . My English teacher would not be proud.

Current signs of the times point to “as in the days of Noah and Lot.” The church leaders are not heeding the warning of Jesus regarding the end times. Their silence is deafening, their congregations are like sheep being led to the slaughter.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matthew 24:27

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. Luke 17:26
