Some tours are embedded on this page, while others can be found with the link provided.

1) Sistine Chapel – Vatican City

Built in the 15th century and painted in the 16th century, the Sistine Chapel is one of the great artistic masterpieces in the world. Michelangelo painted the ceiling and the Last Judgement fresco, while the frescoes on the other walls were painted by a number of other artists. Among other things, the Sistine Chapel serves as the location for conclaves of Cardinals that elect new popes.

This one can only be viewed on the Vatican website, so click on the picture or on the link to check it out.

Didn’t look at the list, but don’t miss the Scavi Tour at the Vatican site. That’s the second level below the church and it goes back over 2,000 years. It includes the purported tomb of St. Peter which lies directly under the main altar.

Rats! Every time I click on an article, my computer either crashes or the pop-ups drive me insane.

Did it include Monreale - the gorgeous church outside of Palermo that has a gigantic mosaic of Christ? One of the most awesome sights in the world!

I said Catholic Churches, not Roman Catholic Churches. There is no such thing as the Roman Catholic Church. There is the Catholic Church, with the head of that church, being the Bishop of Rome. Hence, that’s why it’s incorrectly referred to as the Roman Catholic Church.

There is also the Orthodox Catholic Church, with the head of that church being Jesus Christ, our Lord.

The head of the Catholic Church is also Jesus Christ, with his representative on earth being the Bishop of Rome.
