A new reality show called "Married at First Sight" is legally marrying two complete strangers as part of a "social experiment," all in the name of entertainment.
The show debuted last week on the FYI channel and follows three couples who are thrown into a legal marriage the moment they meet.
A sexologist, psychologist, sociologist and spiritual adviser use "scientific matchmaking" to pair up the couples, then watch to see what happens.
According to the show's publicist, the marriages are indeed binding. But the couples can have their divorces paid for by the show within six months if they choose to.
Sam Rohrer, president of the American Pastors Network, says the reality show mocks marriage, which God considers a sacred union.

I guess you have to ask nowadays — are all couples boy/girl on that show???
If so they will get blasted by certain people for being “hetero normative”.
Will they do this with a gay couple? THAT might be entertaining!
Ha. I bet the "pairings" are much more decided by marketing consultants, glossy photos and focus groups.
Other shows mock it too: Modern Family comes to mind.
In other words, they had 4 mentally ill people playing match-making.
Who would have thought that Al Bundy would have had a great model of a strong family?
ROTFL
The spiritual adviser is a humanist. The show justifies itself by comparing its marriages to arranged marriages.
What is the spiritual adviser doing there and what spirit does he bow to?
Is this show perhaps an experiment of how pre-arranged marriages fare — like it is done in the muzzie world and in parts of India and other places in the East and Africa?
After all, we have become so diveeeerse that we should consider accepting customs that heretofore have not been practiced in America.
Next step is female circumcision for the sake of science.
Let’s create havoc where none exists.
Pretty much every reality show mocks some aspect of a decent society.
OMG. I heard about dating naked. What the heck? Are they wanting you to see what you will get at the end of the evening? Just where are they going with that idea??? How low can they go??
“A sexologist, psychologist, sociologist and spiritual adviser use “scientific matchmaking” to pair up the couples, then watch to see what happens.”
Now, this is not very far from old school “matchmaking”, or the arranged marriages that still happen in other countries. So, I would not be surprised if some of these marriages outlast the average.
