I could hardly believe they could argue this given how they work to make the Bible unknown.

Certainly they harbor a robust presumption that there isn’t a God.

Thou shalt not kill. The only difference between leaving a baby in a dumpster and aborting it is what side of the birth canal it’s on.

The Bible doesn’t mention anything about ... abortion

No, but it does have a thing or two to say about murder.

And by the way, the Constitution doesn't mention anything about a right to contraception or abortion either. But that didn't stop you and your friends on the Warren Court from inventing them.

"The Bible doesn’t mention anything about contraception or abortion,... "

no not by NAME!

"a staggering majority of Americans have no idea what is or isn’t written in the Bible, .."

Clearly the author ranks high on that list..given their IGNORANCE as to what abortion truly is.

We get that concept from Exodus 21:22, the Book of Law:

And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no [further] injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any [further] injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

If a man can be found responsible for the death of the unborn, then so to, a woman can be and both are wrong for intent alone.

What a total load of crap. Typical liberal.

He attacks the Christian right for their total ignorance of the Bible. Then quotes surveys of ALL Americans (not the Christian right) to show illiterate they are.

And in the end, he did NOTHING AT ALL to prove what he is actually asserting, that the Bible approves of abortion.

This is what passes for “critical thought” in the American left. Is it any wonder we are in the total sewer we are in because of morons like this?

"The Bible doesn’t mention anything about contraception or abortion..."

Jeremiah 1:5:
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;"

It makes one think twice when hearing about an "unviable tissue mass"...

Hate to break it to this lady, but abortion is forbidden by Jewish Law, except in the rare circumstance that the continued pregnancy would result in the death of the mother (e.g. due to toxemia, placenta previa).

Maimonides, Mishneh Torah, Hilchot Rotzeach 1:9; Talmud Sanhedrin 72b.

(See Dr. Avraham Steinberg’s Encyclopedia of Jewish Medical Ethics, s.v. Abortion and Miscarriage fn. 99, 100.)

The decision of the five conservative justices to rule in favor of Hobby Lobby, thus granting religious personhood to 90 percent of U.S. corporations,

The author is either a liar or has a reading comprehension problem...

The Hobby Lobby decision do no such thing...

>The Bible doesn’t mention anything about contraception or abortion

Stopped there.

Not perfect, but mentioned:

Abortion
Exodus 21:22
If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
Exodus 21:23
And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,

Birth Control
Genesis 38
8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
10 And the thing which he did displeased the Lord: wherefore he slew him also.

The Bible doesn’t mention anything about contraception or abortion...

Wrong in the first phrase.

"Thou shalt not kill (murder).

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee;

Sounds pretty clear to me.

Well, that’s a bold move. A writer who doesn’t like God or His word, using it as a weapon against those who believe it, and then calling the believers names.

Nice try.

An overwhelming majority of hyper-religious Americans . . ."

If even 1/4 of he people in this country who claim to be Christian lived like Christians the democrat fascist party couldn't get a dog catcher elected and in before long we'd get a Supreme Court that would overturn the BS rulings the USSC has made in the past fifty years.

Then jerks like the author of this piece could be happy expats in Europe along with the queers and perverts they champion..

Leftists cannot possibly understand the Bible. Their minds are clouded and it doesn’t make sense to them. I will not stand for a Biblical lecture from anyone who claims to be democrat/socialist/leftist or any strain of that bilge.
