Yes, it was just a one line article. An Italian article from I Tempi says:

Semplicemente.

Auto-translation:

"No to all types of drugs. It's a scourge. " The Pope Francis said today during a hearing where he met the participants of the 31st edition of the International Drug Enforcement Conference. "Drugs do not win with the drug," said the Pope, "The drug is an evil, and evil there can be no failure or compromise." It is not the first time the Pope spoke on the topic and also this time it was very explicit in insisting that "the legalization of so-called" soft drugs ", even partial, as well as being at the very least questionable in terms of legislation, does not produce the effects that they had set themselves. The replacement drugs, then, are not sufficient therapy, but a veiled way of surrendering to the phenomenon. I want to reiterate what I said on another occasion: no to any kind of drug. Simply. No to any kind of drug. But to say no, you have to say yes to life, yes to love, yes to others, yes to education, yes to sports, yes at work, yes to more sources of work. Health care is the way of life of drug prevention. If you make these "yes," there is no place for drugs, alcohol abuse, for other addictions. "

NARCOTRAFFIC. Pope Francis set an example for the many young people who have managed to escape from addictions: they are a "stimulus to look ahead with confidence." And he invited those who are called to fight the traffic to intensify their efforts against drug trafficking. "The scourge of drugs - continued Bergoglio - continues to rage in impressive shapes and sizes, powered by an ugly market that crosses national and continental boundaries. In this way, there is a growing danger for young people and teenagers. In the face of this phenomenon, I feel the need to express my sorrow and my concern. "

But he’d be okay with it if it was paid for by the taxpayers and distributed free to the marijuana needy and other disadvantaged I assume?

“No to all types of drugs.”

Except booze and nicotine of course.

Yes, I’m wondering what he means by “good results”.

Pope Leo XIII used quite a bit of Vin Mariani. That’s a mix of indifferent wine and cocaine. When traveling he made sure there was at least a case on hand. He approved the Baltimore Catechism as a statement of dogma. Just saying...

Pope Francis seems uptight. He needs to smoke a little weed and chill.

"The drug is an evil, and evil there can be no failure or compromise."

And yet by most measures, smoking marijuana is about the same as drinking wine or hard alcohol, which for some reason isn't an evil. Smoking pot to excess is wrong just like drinking to excess is wrong. But I have seen no good argument as to why smoking a joint is worse than having a glass or two of wine or hard alcohol.

This pope seems to suffer a Cassandra Syndrome. Infallible in matters of faith and morals, but without a clue as to where faith and morals end and where public policy, economics and science begin.

Marijuana is indigenous to the western hemisphere. Although there are indications that Egyptian Pharaohs and such enjoyed the product, it is not mentioned in the Bible. What the Bible says, contrariwise, is that all vegetables are kosher. This doesn’t mean no vegetables are poisonous. It means that there is no religious sanction against any of them. Any sanction would be based on science, not on faith and morals.

With regard to intoxicants, the Bible allows wine and strong drink and admonishes us against denying the poor access to the same. Jesus turned water into wine after those gathered at a wedding party had become tipsy. At the Last Supper (a Seder), Jesus and his disciples partook of three cups of wine. The disciples who accompanied him afterword into the garden weren’t able to remain awake. Guests at a Seder are supposed to stay over. No drinking and driving even back then!

The Bible allows prohibitions, as in the Nazirite vow. Ministers of the church were restricted to moderate use of wine. Judges likewise. That guests at a wedding party and those at a Seder could get a little tipsy on a moderate amount of alcohol can exemplify that we all should be moderate users. I think the totality of the Bible indicates that moderation is recommended, voluntary prohibition is allowed, and that we should be tolerant toward others.

Drinking a few beers or glass of wine does not make you the laziest SOB around. Daily pot smokers are lazy to the core.
It’s call AMS. Anti-Motivational Syndrome.

Glad you are able to figure out the difference between alcohol and say, cocaine or heroin.

Do you ever miss a chance to speak ill of Pope Francis?

Redmen4ever and his ilk don't EVER miss a chance to speak ill of Pope Francis. They HATE what they FEAR the most. The harsher his rhetoric the greater his FEAR of Pope Francis.

Catholic haters/bashers have been around as long as there were Jesus haters. Nothing has changed but the type of communication.
Redmen4ever should be RED faced with shame. He won't be. He seems to be inspired by the Prince of Darkness, who doesn't know the meaning of shame.

Why would you assume such a thing about Pope Francis?
I didn't know that you were a Pope basher.

It's called a "crock." But it DOES have a chatchy name.

I haven't seen or heard of pot smokers for eons. They sure are quiet these days.

Subtle thing, he doesn’t condemn using marijuana, he condemns legislation that doesn’t go far enough on proscribing its use.

I wish this Pope would make his moral case TO PEOPLE and stay out of politics.
