Why do Catholics think burying a St. Joseph statue upside down in their yard will help them sell their house? You silly Catholics are a superstitious bunch. I guess all those statues can come in handy. Don't believe me? Do a search on the internet.

My hunch is that even Catholic priests are denouncing this idea, though I don’t have any positive proof.

There is the official religion there which has its own issues, its own merits and its own problems, then there are meta-religions around it. This St. Joseph stuff is about the meta-religions. Me? Even if I were Catholic and thought that St. Joseph was actually supernaturally available to bestow blessings, burying a statue of him would be about the last thing on my mind. That would be pretty disrespectful to the good Saint would it not?
