Jesus also said He was drinking the “fruit of the vine” not blood.
Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
Good point... fits with the scenario of Jesus presenting these elements in a metaphorical manner.
There are multiple ways Christian tradition can get lopsided. Does that mean you won’t or can’t get saved anyhow? No. But problems arise that make the walk more difficult.
