Abortionist Says His Christianity Led Him to Perform Abortions
Creative Minority Report ^ | 5/28/2014 | Matthew Archbold

Posted on 05/28/2014 3:58:33 AM PDT by markomalley

In the mind of late-term abortionist Dr. Willie Parker, the story of the Good Samaritan ends with the Samaritan tearing a live baby from the womb of a woman. I don't particularly remember that part of the Bible but maybe I have an old version.

Dr. Parker actually said that his faith has driven him to abort babies up to 24 weeks. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the mad cash some people are willing to pay to rid themselves of the responsibility of a baby.

Think Progress reports:

For the first 12 years of his medical practice, Dr. Willie Parker didn’t perform abortions. A Christian from Alabama, he didn’t feel comfortable participating in the procedure. But then he changed his mind — and he credits that reversal to his faith.

“In listening to a sermon by Dr. Martin Luther King, I came to a deeper understanding of my spirituality, which places a higher value on compassion,” Parker recounted in an interview with the New Jersey Star-Ledger. “King said what made the good Samaritan ‘good’ is that instead of focusing on would happen to him by stopping to help the traveler, he was more concerned about what would happen to the traveler if he didn’t stop to help. I became more concerned about what would happen to these women if I, as an obstetrician, did not help them.”

Now, Parker is one of the doctors who flies in from out of state to provide care for patients at Mississippi’s last abortion clinic. He’s also one of the dwindling number of medical professionals who perform abortions up to 24 weeks of pregnancy — a practice that Republicans are attempting to outlaw by passing 20-week abortion bans, which are already in place in several states.
I personally don't remember the Good Samaritan accepting cash or credit, do you?

I doubt very seriously if Jesus would condone the murder of babies. This person defies the definition of being a Christian.

“Spirituality”, the ability to justify anything to one’s self.

Indeed.Dragging Jesus into your arguement/justification is a really bad idea.

**which places a higher value on compassion**

Where’s the compassion for the baby that he is slaughtering?

We can rationalize anything we want to. It is still sin.

I don't particularly remember that part of the Bible but maybe I have an old version. (I'm pretty sure that is sarcasm,)

How about, "Thou shall not murder." Much different than "kill" which is recommended in several places in the Bible.

cdc, when I hear people say they are “spiritual” but aren’t interested in being “religious” or in having faith, I wonder if they have some pet sin or sins they don’t want to give up. I wonder if they want to stay in vague generalities and not have any specific demands made upon them.

I’m in the same boat with you, wondering just what they mean, but it’s rare these days that I’m curious enough to ask. I think a lot of them believe that it makes them sound less shallow. It doesn’t.

It could be a vague feeling that there is a “higher power”, but they are of the “mommy made me sit on the uncomfortable pew in the uncomfortable clothes so I’m going to rebel against ‘organized religion’” type. Another possibility is that they abhor sounding “judgmental”. There’s also the desire to be unique or exotic. I don’t know. The answers are usually pretty tedious.

Isaiah 5:20 New Century Version (NCV)

20 How terrible it will be for people who call good things bad and bad things good,

who think darkness is light and light is darkness,

who think sour is sweet and sweet is sour.
