Unfortunately, the “Arab Spring” was instituted and reported by people with no understanding of Islam. Everything was viewed through Western tinted glasses. And now these same people are surprised how reality reached up and tore them a new one?

My basic position is the Western World and the Islamic World have nothing in common except we inhabit the same planet. The Western World is based, in part, on the Reformation and Renaissance; both of which caused massive upheaval in societal norms. Until the Islamic World undergoes similar cultural change there is no common ground between the two, regardless how badly Western intellectuals want it.

That is the reality. Until it is accepted by Western leaders, intellectual, cultural, and political, individual Westerners will pay the price, in their own blood.

the head of the largest Christian community in an Arab Country added that the wave of uprisings was encouraged by Western powers with the intention of dividing the Arab world "into smaller countries".

Worth repeating.
