I wonder if God watches his movies. I’m thinking so.
“Charlie Laughton, who said, ‘When you got God you got a friend and that friend is you.’”
Charlie Laughton, notorious homosexual.
Isn’t it amazing how vile and full of hatred the atheists are. They not only don’t believe. They don’t want you to believe and make fun of you if you do.
I wonder when the last time was that an actor thanked God at the Oscars. Tom Hanks thanked his gay high school drama teacher.
“His Methodist parents took his name from the New Testament. For this reason, he has never shortened it to “Matt.”
On orders from his mother. She said Matthew in the Bible was never referred to as Matt and she never wanted her son to becalled Matt. He corrects people all the time that call him Matt.
McConaughey is a fresh gust of wind in Hollywood. A class of people that are miserable, in general, in their own right. Great movies, great attitude toward life, and he has a soul.
But now -- I will watch him with a new attitude.
As for Tom Hanks, he can go stick his head in a bucket of water.
They're mad because McConaughey didn't respect the separation of church and state.
John 15:18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.
23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
I’ve never heard the British actor referred to as “Charlie.” Maybe he was quoting Charlie Laughton the acting teacher. He had a number of students who went on to success, though to my knowledge, McConaughey isn’t one of them.
Or maybe it was a Charlie Laughton he grew up with in Texas that I’ve never heard of.
So many in Hollywood are so wrapped up in vanity and pride. The Oscar and other awards have become idols. And they see themselves as idols.
McConaughey has the right perspective on things. He didn't quote Scripture but he transmitted his love for his Creator in words his audience could relate to.
My wife was watching in the other room and when he was finished I said: "Nice to hear a sober voice".
Matthew was right to acknowledge God even though he may be surprised to discover what God thinks of Mathew’s artistic expression. The Bible says “Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord.” So, yes, Matthew should thank and praise God because it is God who has given him life, health, intellect, and safety from destruction. Yet, Matthew must either bow his knee at the foot of the cross by trusting Christ for salvation and repent of his not being yielded to Christ’s Lordship, or Matthew will receive divine wrath in the coming day of wrath, just as all of us will. Same goes for Matthew’s supporters and his naysayers.
