I’ve rented a couple individual streaming movies from Amazon. the service worked well.

It’s called Amazon Prime, and my first year payed for itself by the second or third purchase. I signed up for it when I bought my Fire, and I wanted to stream movies. I recommend it highly.

I dumped Netflix the fifth time I heard of an old movie, wanted to watch it, and they didn’t have it. Their repertoire has gotten really poor.

They tried to do a remake of GI? That’s insane, soft porn or not, and whoever thought it up should have been summarily fired.

I agree. But they eventually remake all the old shows because there are no new ideas. They take the old title and the new show/movie is the same old crap that does not resemble the original at all.

Some old plot themes can still create many laughs. My favorite has always been “the fish out of water” theme. Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres. A few years back, they tried to make The Cavemen from the insurance commercials into a series, and that would have been a good theme for that, but they chose a different direction and made the caveman characters elite snobs.

I guess I was right because it flopped after something like three episodes.

It just wasn’t funny. The protagonists came off as unlikable. Name a character from Gilligan you really didn’t like. You can’t, even Ginger and Mr. Howell had good qualities. I wonder if there is YouTube of the The Cavemen show?

Truedat. But it’s an amazing repository of old cultural stuff. Also some really kewl educational stuff. I found several really good videos about Prince Rupert’s Tears there. Nifty if you like physics.

I know first hand the damage this stuff does to a relationship. I refuse to be an actor in someone’s movie in their head. After a while I was just “I hate you go away leave me alone I don’t care what you think or want”. It was very demeaning and I wouldn’t stand for it.
