I always thought the soap operas were soft porn and many “romance” novels are too. Men might like the movies, but women like to read.
In the 1990s, the number of out-of-wedlock births and STD infections increased substantially. If the females had all forsworn relations with males, and the males were in the basement with themselves, how did this happen?
TV Land has recently started playing reruns of Gilligan’s Island, and The Hallmark Channel and Inspiration Channel have Little House (also The Waltons). The Hub Channel has played good old series like Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley until recently. I hope they put them back into the line up soon. Lately, The Hub has been playing Step by Step, an unwatchable series from the 1990’s, and other drivel from the 90’s.
I do enjoy Gilligan’s Island, for a step back into the good old days.
Duh, Tax-chick...Women are evil. There doesn’t have to be a logical explanation. Get with the program, evil woman!

Didnt say women are evil. But this what I observed was indeed what pop culture did to females in the 90s. Go look up “dumb daddy commercials” on Google for one of the more obvious examples of how men were turned into idiots on TV. Daytime talk shows, especially in the 90s were masters of demonizing men. Political Correctness, and Cultural Marxism were part of the assault too.
It was all part of the “war on boys/men” that we are now seeing the effects of today. It is even worse for young guys because they are now being turned into girls or encouraged to be gay.
I mean, always “hear”.

I tell you what young man (or is it young lady?) I still get around for a woman of 80, and I remember when Dawn Wells was running around Gilligan’s Island and the censors had to make sure her belly button never showed for the camera!
Same for Barbara Eden of “I Dream of Jeanie”.
Now they want Gilligan and Mary Ann in the sack? Oh that is just wrong! I want to see Gilligan’s antics not Gilligan getting Mary Ann knocked up. I also want to see what the Professor invents next out of coconut shells. That was always a laugh.

The thought of any kind of sexual interaction in “Gilligan’s Island” is repugnant.
Do you realize the only married couple on that island slept in twin beds 21 inches apart?

It was a funny show, without any, “Oh, yuck!” features.
