American pastor and missionary Thomas (Tom) Randall has been imprisoned in Manila, Philippines on allegations that an orphanage he and his wife founded in the country has been operating as a front for human trafficking and that dozens of poor children living at the facility had been suffering sexual abuse for years.

Randall was on a mission trip in the country when state and social welfare authorities apprehended him and two workers on Jan. 12 at the Sankey Samaritan Orphanage in Lucena City, Philippines, reportedly on allegations that he had been negligent regarding alleged abuse and sex trafficking at the facility.

Tom Randall is friends with my pastor and spoken at my church on numerous occasions.

Please keep this situation in your prayers. Our US Embassy is not doing anything to help.

My pastor insists Tom is innocent. I'm praying for truth and God's will be done.

He might not have taken part in the acts, but looks like he was told it was going on and didn’t do anything. At least now that’s what its looking like.

“but looks like he was told it was going on and didn’t do anything”

that is just as bad as doing it.

There are some things that iur pastor told us. First, there was an investigation by the Philippne authorities done n this back in December and Tom and the orphanage were cleared.

Then the person who made the initial allegations went to the US embassy and Homeland Security and made the accusations there. Somehow, they got Tom arrested again.

He’s not being fed in prison and he is in poor health.

I don’t know Tom. I do know he dropped everything and led our church for several weeks after our pastor’s son died in a freak accident.

My pastor is Steve Clifford of Westgate Church in San Jose. Pastor Steve came out in total support for Tom.

My gut tells me Tom is innocent, but I am praying for truth and God’s will. The poor kids in the orphanage have been through a lot.

He has said there are people in that country that do not want him there. Hard to know the truth from so far away.

That is what I am afraid of. I know a lot of pastors with good intentions will not turn people in. They will pray for them, etc.

I pray that is not the case here. My pastor doesn’t seem to think so.

When someone recants, it usually means one of two things:

Either the original accusation was false

Or pressure was brought to bear on the accuser.

Not enough info to speculate one way or another.

“My pastor insists Tom is innocent.”

He can believe that the accused is innocent, but there is no way that he could know that.

And I’ve seen too many gullible preachers show up with defendants on sentencing day.

Right, it might be even worse. How can a good man let something like this go on?

Anyways I really hope he is innocent, but I’m just saying it looks like there are at least eight(?) accusers saying they reported it to him and he did nothing. Who knows this early.

Philippine authorities aren’t known for their investigative skills. I honestly hope this guy didn’t know this was going on, or he should be shot along with the rest of the pedophiles.

I honestly think it’s worse knowing and not doing anything about it, than participating. I don’t know either way, but it looks like there are eight(?) accusers saying he was told but did nothing.

It’s bad to know and not tell, but how could that possibly be WORSE than someone who rapes children?

Praying in agreement with you, luckystarmom, for truth and God’s will be done. <3

Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Psalm 82:3

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy. Psalm 68:5

But you do see! You take note of trouble and grief in order to take the matter into your own hand. The helpless one commits himself to you; you have been the orphan’s helper. Psalm 10:14

Though the LORD is highly exalted, yet he pays attention to those who are lowly regarded, but he is aware of the arrogant from afar. Psalm 138:6

He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. Deuteronomy 10:18

The LORD preserves the strangers; he relieves the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turns upside down. Psalm 146:9

Do not take advantage of the widow or the fatherless. If you do and they cry out to me, I will certainly hear their cry. My anger will be aroused, and I will… Exodus 22:22-24

Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. Mark 9:42, Matthew 18:6, Luke 17:2

“You shall not pervert the justice due to the sojourner or to the fatherless, or take a widow’s garment in pledge, Deuteronomy 24:17

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. James 1:27

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.Psalm 9:9

Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ Matthew 25:45

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18,19

Hard to know what is the truth but from this article it sounds like this might be the case. Hopefully not but sometimes Christians can be a bit naïve.

My husband and I were also thinking that maybe Tom found out about it, but didn’t turn the guy who did it in because the kids would be made to leave the orphanage.

The Phillipines is not the US.

I’m praying for safety of the kids involved and God’s will be done.

It’s worse because you can stop children from being raped, and you let it happen.

If you’re letting someone rape children without doing anything about it. What else would you let happen while you sit and do nothing?
