Rome Sweet Home - Our Journey to Catholicism
http://www.amazon.com/ ^ | August 1, 1993 | Scott & Kimberly Hahn

Posted on 12/31/2013 1:44:07 PM PST by NKP_Vet

The well-known and very popular Catholic couple, Scott and Kimberly Hahn, have been constantly travelling and speaking all over North America for the last few years about their conversion to the Catholic Church. Now these two outstanding Catholic apologists tell in their own words about the incredible spiritual journey that led them to embrace Catholicism. Scott Hahn was a Presbyterian minister, the top student in his seminary class, a brilliant Scripture scholar, and militantly anti-Catholic ... until he reluctantly began to discover that his "enemy" had all the right answers. Kimberly, also a top-notch theology student in the seminary, is the daughter of a well-known Protestant minister, and went through a tremendous "dark night of the soul" after Scott converted to Catholicism. Their conversion story and love for the Church has captured the hearts and minds of thousands of lukewarm Catholics and brought them back into an active participation in the Church. They have also influenced countless conversions to Catholicism among their friends and others who have heard their powerful testimony. Written with simplicity, charity, grace and wit, the Hahns' deep love and knowledge of Christ and of Scripture is evident and contagious throughout their story. Their love of truth and of neighbor is equally evident, and their theological focus on the great importance of the family, both biological and spiritual, will be a source of inspiration for all readers.

"The Lord has greatly used the Hahns to bring so many others to the fullness of Christian faith in the Catholic Church. This book recounts how, by God's grace, it all began and what obstacles Scott and Kimberly faced and overcame in becoming Catholics." ~ Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, Philadelphia, PA

I am not a Catholic, but these two are courageous rocks for Christ. I have the utmost admiration for them. About 25 years ago, I had the honor of hearing Scott and Kimberly speak in East Stroudsburg, Pa. Bob

Fantastic book. Our parish gave it out in both English and Spanish as a Christmas gift to parishioners.

We are Lutherans, thus the polar opposite of Catholics.

Nah....

Polar Opposite would be Atheist or Satanist.

Lutheran is just a Christian of a different latitude.

Thus, you can move on up......

Same in my parish church, the Knights of Columbus group gave out free copies as a Christmas gift to parishoners.

Lutherans are very much like Catholics. They will be the next ones to convert (as many Anglicans have right now.)

"We are Lutherans, thus the polar opposite of Catholics."

I'm a Catholic who has been listening to a lot of Lutheran radio lately (Issues, Etc. on LPR). I'm pleased and gratified to see how close Catholics and Lutherans really are on a great many things.

Lutherans are not near polar opposites of Catholics...very close in fact,....all you need do is re-establish your belief in the things Martin decided were wrong.....most of his objections were very shortly overcome....others, such as transubstantiation, should be studied by you and once tou come to accept the entirety of the Catholic church, you could re-enter through a VERY easy process.

I am a cradle Catholic. When I was in my early 20s I rediscovered my faith and received an incredible love for the Catholic Church that I realized that if I had not been born Catholic I would make a beeline for it.

Steve and Janet Ray are also converts. Steve wrote a book called CROSSING THE TIBER, his story of conversion. It's a MOST interesting book. I read it after I got home from his tour.

I went on a HOLY LAND tour a couple of years ago...all through Israel with Steve Ray (and his wife). He was FABULOUS. Hah, he got into it with some, er, non-Catholics over there (not Muslims either) who were trying to come over big, nasty and mean to him and he didn't back down a single iota.

Our last stop just before re-entering Jerusalem was at an American-style hamburger place. Yum, even the French fries and sodas were fabulous. It was an ELVIS-themed place, complete with the big, pink Cadillac.
I felt like I had just entered the TWILIGHT ZONE....doodoodoodoo doodoodoodoo.....:o)

Father Martin Luther WAS a Catholic priest. How can that be the polar opposite of Catholics?
He HAD to have taken SO MUCH of his former faith into HIS new one...after all, it IS named after him.

Interesting. Thank you! Bob

Glad you thought it was interesting, Bob. Steve has had an interesting life. What got him thinking about things was the HUGE number of Christian denominations. There's only ONE Catholic Church, though there are Eastern/Orthodox Catholic Churches, not the HUGE number as there are Christian denominations.

Even Google will tell you that there are some 30,000 different Protestant denominations, though other sources put that number at 40,000.
Anyway Steve Ray converted...amazing. God sure does work in His mysterious ways.
