...But what I was going to bring before your minds was this: Shall we expect that the Lord Jesus is going to delay His coming in the midst of His people, until all this great work shall have been accomplished? By no means. I do not understand that He has ever intimated anything of this kind. Nor need we wait in our faith and in our expectations till all these great and glorious things shall have been accomplished on the earth before the Prophet Joseph Smith shall come unto us again. He has merely taken another mission in advance of us. He fulfilled the mission given unto him on earth. The Lord was satisfied with his labors here. He lived long enough to endow his brethren with full authority to carry on the work that he had begun on the earth. He took his departure behind the veil. The Lord suffered his enemies to destroy him in the flesh, to take away his life, and he was made an offeringwhat shall I say? an offering for sin....
...there will be another mission undertaken. The next mission will be to come and prepare the way in Zion, and in her Stakes, and in the temples of our God for turning the key of the resurrection of the dead, to bring forth those that are asleep, and to exalt them among the Gods. And who will be first and foremost? Why, he whom God has chosen and placed first and foremost to hold the keys of this last dispensation.

This discourse given by a Mormon "apostle" -- a man who had been an Lds "apostle" for 35 years when he made this statement in the Tabernacle in Logan Utah. [Erastus Snow was a Mormon "apostle" for 39 years]
From the discourse:
Yet another piece of evidence that the Mormon Church has stressed "The Second Coming of Joseph Smith!"
Here is how Erastus Snow's message looked in the Feb. 27, 1884 issue of the Mormon Church-owned Deseret News:
Here is Lds author Duane S. Crowther quoting this same Erastus Snow message...although he clipped out the first graph highlighted in this thread:
Duane S. Crowther, Prophecy: Key to the Scriptures, p. 85
And please note: This book is available thru Deseret Book Co. -- the publishing arm of the Mormon Church!
For Crowther's Chapter 6 content stressing the Second Coming of Joseph Smith -- but in a different presentation format -- see: Duane S. Crowther, Prophecy: Key to the Scriptures, Chapter 6
...there will be another mission undertaken.
The last sentence is a reference to Joseph Smith. Lds leaders have constantly harped on Smith having "the keys of this last dispensation."
And for those of you who think Mormonism teaches about only "one God"; well, sorry to dispel that PR rumor.
And Lds author Duane S. Crowther, whose book in post #1 is mentioned as having been carried by Lds Church's publishing arm, Deseret Book...did cite the "gods" portion of that quote in his book (p. 85). See post #1 for link.
Cult placemarker
A Mormon apologetics outfit -- Shields-research.org -- wanted to prove that Mormon leaders in 1884 (E. Snow) taught that Joseph Smith's resurrection was still to come:
What's interesting is that in the process, they quoted Snow saying: "...The Prophet Joseph Smith shall come unto us again." [See content matching up with "Footnote 14"]
So even this Lds apologetics outfit...
(a) cited this Snow message to confirm a key theological point it was attempting to make;
and (b) ...had ZERO qualms in promoting Joseph Smith's Second Coming to the Mormons!
