I understand that there are people that deify the Bible. I believe it's because it's their only link with God. Therefore, the Bible takes on super natural characteristics to them. When God speaks, His words are perfect. Man however, is not. And therefore, the things man writes are prone to our human failings.

The Bible is not God, therefore no one worships it as God. However, it IS the WORD of God and we are commanded to heed His word, remember it, meditate upon in, teach it to our children and honor it. Many, many times in Scripture God commands His prophets to WRITE down the words He gave to them so that there would be no denial of them, confusion over what He spoke and that they would be preserved for all time. Heaven and earth will pass away, the word of God will NEVER pass away. Here are a few of those times where Almighty God commanded that His words be WRITTEN:

Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever(Isa. 30:8)

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book. (Jeremiah 30:1,2)

Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day. (Jer. 36:2)

And if they be ashamed of all that they have done, shew them the form of the house, and the fashion thereof, and the goings out thereof, and the comings in thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and all the forms thereof, and all the laws thereof: and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form thereof, and all the ordinances thereof, and do them. (Ezek. 43:11)

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. (Hab. 2:2)

The Holy Bible has been given to us BY God so that we may have a "rule of faith" by which to know truth from error. You disparage those you claim make too much of the Bible. I think your religion's problem is you make too little of it.

This is worthy of some kind of epic straw man award. Notice I didn't say anything about "revelations for the church". Colofornian inserts that herself then compares that with what I said above. It's comparing apples and bowling balls. The Prophet of the Church or President of Church is authorized to received revelation for the whole Church. The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are authorized as prophets, meaning they can prophesy as the Lord wants them too. But it will not be revelation that pertains to the Church as a whole. They are prophets, seers, and revelators as the Lord requires of them.

Alright, if you're going to waffle about on the # of prophets belonging to the church ya wanna join, let's go back to your comment in post #260: Rev 11 clearly says there will be TWO prophets in the last days, I want to join the Church they belong to, can you point it out? Thanks!

So, here ya boast about your 15-prophesy-member "church" and you wanna suddenly join in the last of the latter days a "2-prophesy-member" church eh? Why don't ya wanna join that 15-prophesy-member church? (Could it be because it's "missing in action" in Revelation?)

And for the most part I agree with what you're saying. However, no where in any writing in the Bible does it say there will be a "Bible" and it will be the only scripture on the planet.

That's not in there.

But, warnings to people who limit the power of God are in there.

Amos 3:7. There was no prophets present when the books of the Bible were chosen. That's a big red flag.

John 10:16
16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Jesus always referred to His people as Sheep and Himself as the Shepherd. So, when He left the Apostles after His resurrection, He made it clear He was going to go teach to other people on the earth. Not these sheep, but other sheep. Not these people, but other people.

It's totally logical that God had people and prophets all over the world at some time or other. He wants to save all people. Not just the few that were in the middle east.

It's completely logical to assume then if God spoke to people all over the world they would have His words to them, and that would be scripture too.

I stand ready to receive any word God sends to me.

Umm... if there are 15 Apostles who are authorized prophets in the Lord's Church, then 2 of those Apostles can be called to Jerusalem and fulfill Rev 11.

See how the math works?... If you have 15, then you can have 2 that can go do something together. [blink blink]

Alma 34:32-35 says there's no second chance: For behold THIS LIFE is the time for men to prepare to meet God...do not procrastinate the day of your repentance until the end; for after this day of life...then cometh the night of darkness wherein THERE CAN BE NO LABOR PERFORMED. Ye cannot say, when ye are brought to that awful crisis, that I will reprent, that I will return to my God. Nay, ye cannot say this; for that same spirit which doth possess your bodies at the time that ye go out of this life, that same spirit will have power to possess your body in that eternal world. (I cited parts of vv. 32-34) Both Mosiah 16:11 & 1 Nephi 15:35 says there's only TWO destinations post-death (not a third called "spirit prison"). And the BoM knows only heaven & hell -- no temporary spirit prison (Mormon 9:23; Ether 4:18; Hel. 14:18-19; Alma 3:26; Alma 40:26; 2 Nephi 2:28-29; 2 Nephi 9:16; Alma 41:4; 3 Nephi 27:11,17; 2 Nephi 28:21-22). If Mormons would only study their own Book of Mormon on post-life...(Smith took much of his early belief system from the Bible before it got twisted)...then they'd see how off-kilter this later-developed baptism of the dead idea was...

How curious! I was just told by SP that:

Baptism for the dead is in the top three works God has given us. As it is shown in Titus, a pattern of good works must be shown. When the books are opened and your life is judged, can you say you did the work for your dead that the Lord has commanded you to do?

How do you rectify this contradiction Storm Prepper? Are you in the position to nullify the Mormon scripture like y'all do for the Divine Bible?

So, these "Twelve" are "prophets" , who can "prophesy" as the Lord wants them to and the one "Prophet/President of the Church" can also prophesy as the Lord wants him to. The difference you say is like "comparing apples to bowling balls" is that the President can receive for the whole church and the others can prophesy as the Lord wants them to just that it won't ever be for the "whole church" cuz that's the President's job? What happens when one of the Twelve gets something that IS relevant for the whole church, does he have to tell the Lord he got a wrong number and go tell it to the prez instead? And why would a "prophecy" be only for a select group or individual and it not be something the whole church also needs to hear or know about?

Sounds more like apples and apples to me.

And for the most part I agree with what you're saying. However, no where in any writing in the Bible does it say there will be a "Bible" and it will be the only scripture on the planet. That's not in there. But, warnings to people who limit the power of God are in there.

The Bible is a collection of the writings of those "Holy men of God who spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit". That is what sets them apart from other so-called scripture. Most every religion has some form of sacred writings or scripture through which they know the tenets of their faith. What sets the Bible apart from the Quran or the Tibetan Book of the Dead or the Vedas or The Diamond Sutra? Isn't it logical that Almighty God would have had some way of differentiating His truth from the all the false religions invented by man through the ages? They can't ALL be true seeing as they contradict each other in many ways and they define God inconsistently, too.

We can have assurance that the truths God revealed in the Bible ARE true no matter who accepts it and it was true BEFORE there even was a collection of these writings called "the Bible". Putting them together under a single cover was by the leading of the Holy Spirit because the people of God were given the wisdom to recognize His word and to obey and follow what He said. John, the Apostle, said that there were many other things Jesus DID while he was here on earth but that what was written was so that we would believe in him and that by believing we would have eternal life through Christ (Jn. 20:21).

The "other sheep" Jesus spoke about were the Gentiles because Jesus came for the "lost sheep of the house of Israel". Jesus came as the light of the world, as the Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world. This gospel is true for ALL people for ALL time - it never changes. That's why we can know that the truth can and will be found by anyone who diligently seeks Him.

I stand ready to receive any word God sends to me.

But how will you KNOW what is coming from God? You cannot depend on a feeling, not even if something "sounds" right - many people are fooled every day by false religions. The Holy Spirit is in the world to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. We can trust the Bible because we KNOW who it came from. If any religion tries to convince you to not trust in the Bible or to hold some organization above the word of God, then you can know they are NOT from Him. That was the very first lie Satan told man - "Did God really say...?"

The Holy Bible has been given to us BY God so that we may have a "rule of faith" by which to know truth from error.

The book of mormon is a combination of plagiarism of works by other MEN and the fertile imagination of a man whose life work was inventing stories in order to con other men out of their money and women out of their virginity.

Just about everything Mormons supposedly "know" is built upon the corpse of Joseph Smith...not the Bible...not God, Himself...not the Holy Spirit...just Joe...and their general authorities even say so!!!!

Bears repeating.

"I hope, do pray that you have a peaceful Christmas. I hope the Lord blesses you in any way He can. I pray that you and your family are kept safe.

To whom are these "prayers" directed? The mormon "god" who was once a man? What a waste of time for you.

We pray that you, and all the others who embrace the false mormon god will be saved by the true everlasting God before death, because the "after death" baptism rituals in mormon temples will have no effect for those living who reject the saving grace of the true Son of the true God.

Mormonism says the Bible, the Holy word of God, is imperfect.

No problem, for a church that Thanks GOD for a Prophet has a book,written by a Living Prophet©, that CORRECTS all errors found in the KJV of the bible.

JOSEPH SMITH—MATTHEW
An extract from the translation of the Bible as revealed to Joseph Smith the Prophet in 1831: Matthew 23: 39 and chapter 24.
Jesus foretells the impending destruction of Jerusalem—He also discourses on the second coming of the Son of Man, and the destruction of the wicked.
1 aFor I say unto you, that ye shall not see me henceforth and know that I am he of whom it is written by the prophets, until ye shall say: Blessed is he who bcometh in the name of the Lord, in the clouds of heaven, and all the holy angels with him. Then understood his disciples that he should come again on the earth, after that he was glorified and ccrowned on the right hand of God.
2 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple; and his disciples came to him, for to ahear him, saying: Master, show us concerning the buildings of the temple, as thou hast said—They shall be thrown down, and left unto you desolate.
3 And Jesus said unto them: See ye not all these things, and do ye not understand them? Verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here, upon this temple, one astone upon another that shall not be thrown down.
4 And Jesus left them, and went upon the Mount of Olives. And as he sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying: Tell us when shall these things be which thou hast said concerning the destruction of the temple, and the Jews; and what is the asign of thy bcoming, and of the cend of the world, or the destruction of the dwicked, which is the end of the world?
5 And Jesus answered, and said unto them: Take heed that no man deceive you;
6 For many shall come in my name, saying—I am aChrist—and shall deceive many;
7 Then shall they deliver you up to be aafflicted, and shall kill you, and ye shall be bhated of all nations, for my name’s sake;
8 And then shall many be aoffended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another;
9 And many afalse prophets shall arise, and shall deceive many;
10 And because iniquity shall abound, the alove of many shall wax cold;
11 But he that remaineth asteadfast and is not overcome, the same shall be saved.
12 When you, therefore, shall see the aabomination of bdesolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, concerning the destruction of cJerusalem, then you shall stand in the dholy place; whoso readeth let him understand.
13 Then let them who are in Judea flee into the amountains;
14 Let him who is on the housetop flee, and not return to take anything out of his house;
15 Neither let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes;
16 And wo unto them that are with achild, and unto them that give suck in those days;
17 Therefore, pray ye the Lord that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day;
18 For then, in those days, shall be great atribulation on the bJews, and upon the inhabitants of cJerusalem, such as was not before sent upon Israel, of God, since the beginning of their kingdom until this time; no, nor ever shall be sent again upon Israel.
19 All things which have befallen them are only the beginning of the sorrows which shall come upon them.
20 And except those days should be shortened, there should none of their flesh be asaved; but for the elect’s sake, according to the bcovenant, those days shall be shortened.
21 Behold, these things I have spoken unto you concerning the Jews; and again, after the tribulation of those days which shall come upon Jerusalem, if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there, believe him not;
22 For in those days there shall also arise false aChrists, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch, that, if possible, they shall deceive the very elect, who are the elect according to the covenant.
23 Behold, I speak these things unto you for the aelect’s sake; and you also shall hear of bwars, and rumors of wars; see that ye be not troubled, for all I have told you must come to pass; but the end is not yet.
24 Behold, I have told you before;
25 Wherefore, if they shall say unto you: Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: Behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not;
26 For as the light of the morning cometh out of the aeast, and shineth even unto the west, and covereth the whole earth, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.
27 And now I show unto you a parable. Behold, wheresoever the acarcass is, there will the eagles be bgathered together; so likewise shall mine elect be gathered from the four quarters of the earth.
28 And they shall hear of wars, and rumors of wars.
29 Behold I speak for mine elect’s sake; for nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there shall be afamines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
30 And again, because iniquity shall abound, the love of men shall wax acold; but he that shall not be overcome, the same shall be saved.
31 And again, this aGospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness unto all bnations, and then shall the end come, or the destruction of the wicked;
32 And again shall the aabomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, be fulfilled.
33 And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the asun shall be bdarkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the cstars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
34 Verily, I say unto you, this ageneration, in which these things shall be shown forth, shall not pass away until all I have told you shall be fulfilled.
35 Although, the days will come, that heaven and earth shall pass away; yet my awords shall not pass away, but all shall be fulfilled.
36 And, as I said before, after the atribulation of those days, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken, then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth bmourn; and they shall see the cSon of Man dcoming in the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory;
37 And whoso atreasureth up my word, shall not be deceived, for the Son of Man shall bcome, and he shall send his cangels before him with the great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together the dremainder of his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
38 Now learn a parable of the afig-tree—When its branches are yet tender, and it begins to put forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh at hand;
39 So likewise, mine elect, when they shall see all these things, they shall know that he is near, even at the doors;
40 But of that day, and hour, no one aknoweth; no, not the angels of God in heaven, but my Father only.
41 But as it was in the days of aNoah, so it shall be also at the coming of the Son of Man;
42 For it shall be with them, as it was in the days which were before the aflood; for until the day that Noah entered into the ark they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage;
43 And aknew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.
44 Then shall be fulfilled that which is written, that in the alast days, two shall be in the field, the one shall be taken, and the other bleft;
45 Two shall be grinding at the mill, the one shall be taken, and the other left;
46 And what I say unto one, I say unto all men; awatch, therefore, for you know not at what hour your Lord doth come.
47 But know this, if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to have been broken up, but would have been ready.
48 Therefore be ye also aready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh.
49 Who, then, is a afaithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
50 Blessed is that aservant whom his lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing; and verily I say unto you, he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
51 But if that evil servant shall say in his heart: My lord adelayeth his coming,
52 And shall begin to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken,
53 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
54 And shall cut him asunder, and shall appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and agnashing of teeth.
55 And thus cometh the aend of the wicked, according to the prophecy of Moses, saying: They shall be cut off from among the people; but the end of the earth is not yet, but by and by.

43. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46. Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49. And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50. The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51. And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

No problem, for a church that Thanks GOD for a Prophet has a book,written by a Living Prophet©, that CORRECTS all errors found in the KJV of the bible.

But; strangely, that church does NOT consider that book to be SCRIPTURE!

#1...Rev. 11:3 describes these so-called "two prophets" as "two witnesses"...who give "testimony" (v. 7). NOT "prophets" per se.

Well (you HATER!!!) that's because WITNESSES might be translated wrongly; just like the Articles of Faith of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints implies.

Let's look and see...

Red italics indicate additions.
Green indicates spelling differences.
Blue indicates words removed.
Larger font indicates completely different words used.

JOSEPH SMITH TRANSLATION - REVELATION

Revelation 1:1–8

1 The Revelation of John, a servant of God, which was given unto him of Jesus Christ, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass, that he sent and signified by his angel unto his servant John,

2 Who bore record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.

3 Blessed are they who read, and they who hear and understand the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein, for the time of the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

4 Now this is the testimony of John to the seven servants who are over the seven churches in Asia. Grace unto you, and peace from him who is, and who was, and who is to come; who hath sent forth his angel from before his throne, to testify unto those who are the seven servants over the seven churches.

5 Therefore, I, John, the faithful witness, bear record of the things which were delivered me of the angel, and from Jesus Christ the first begotten of the dead, and the Prince of the kings of the earth.

6 And unto him who loved us, be glory; who washed us from our sins in his own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God, his Father. To him be glory and dominion, forever and ever. Amen.

7 For behold, he cometh in the clouds with ten thousands of his saints in the kingdom, clothed with the glory of his Father. And every eye shall see him; and they who pierced him, and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

8 For he saith, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, the Lord, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 2:26–27

26 And to him who overcometh, and keepeth my commandments unto the end, will I give power over many kingdoms;

27 And he shall rule them with the word of God; and they shall be in his hands as the vessels of clay in the hands of a potter; and he shall govern them by faith, with equity and justice, even as I received of my Father.

Revelation 12:1–17

1 And there appeared a great sign in heaven, in the likeness of things on the earth; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.

2 And the woman being with child, cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

3 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up unto God and his throne.

4 And there appeared another sign in heaven; and behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman which was delivered, ready to devour her child after it was born.

5 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore years.

6 And there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought against Michael;

7 And the dragon prevailed not against Michael, neither the child, nor the woman which was the church of God, who had been delivered of her pains, and brought forth the kingdom of our God and his Christ.

8 Neither was there place found in heaven for the great dragon, who was cast out; that old serpent called the devil, and also called Satan, which deceiveth the whole world; he was cast out into the earth; and his angels were cast out with him.

9 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ;

10 For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

11 For they have overcome him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; for they loved not their own lives, but kept the testimony even unto death. Therefore, rejoice O heavens, and ye that dwell in them.

12 And after these things I heard another voice saying, Woe to the inhabiters of the earth, yea, and they who dwell upon the islands of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

13 For when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

14 Therefore, to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might flee into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

15 And the serpent casteth out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

16 And the earth helpeth the woman, and the earth openeth her mouth, and swalloweth up the flood which the dragon casteth out of his mouth.

17 Therefore, the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

I'm sorry; I left out "until he dies and then we can toss what he has said under the bus."
