The Mater Hospital in Dublins north inner city is one of 25 named in controversial legislation where a pregnancy can be terminated if the womans life is in danger.
In a statement today, hospital chiefs said they had carefully considered the Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act and would abide by the law.
The hospitals priority is to be at the frontier of compassion, concern and clinical care for all our patients, the statement said.
Having regard to that duty, the hospital will comply with the law as provided for in the act.
The confirmation follows claims last month from one of the hospitals board of governors that it could not follow the law because of its Catholic ethos.
Fr Kevin Doran, based in Donnybrook in Dublin, had argued European regulations could allow the hospital to opt out of the new laws.
Not sure how my mother is going to take this news.
Not sure how the Pope is going to take that news, but I imagine a lot of people will be interested.
something something something “too much focus on abortion” something something
Dr. Satan will be the resident abortionist.
Maybe the Vatican should strip of it of its Catholic identity

I realize it can be a slippery slope, but this is not abortion on demand.
I know an OB/GYN who did an abortion for exactly that reason. After more than 20 years in the field, it was her first abortion. She cried many times because she felt bad about it, but it was the right thing to do. It’s also still the only one she has done, as far as I know.
The Pope complained about too many orthodox Catholic complaining to Rome about doctrinal matters. Why would the Pope care? The Pope has abandoned pro-lifers, and especially unborn children.
