I do not question the faith of Nik; however, the presence of one false teacher Joel Olsteen was quite a statement to me personally. In listening to the words of Nik as he crossed the wire, it was clear that he is caught up in some false teaching, apparently the “word of faith” teachings from which Joel Olsteen was reared under his father John. Nik, Joel, nor any other man has authority over the wind, or any other elements of nature in the name of Jesus. God alone has reserved that power for himself. As much as men so desire and act the role of a being a little god; God has not invested man with such authority.
Even assuming he is a follower of Joel Olsteen, the fact that this was playing internationally is a good thing. The truth of the Word is still the truth, even if its spoken by a someone less then perfect
Is praying for the wind to subside any different from praying to God to get that job you really need or wanted? From praying that a loved one recover from injury or disease? God doesn't always give us what we want, but will always give us what we need. All we need to do is ask.
I agree with your statements except I don’t see the relevance to this article. No man is claiming credit for stopping the winds. Also - it is quite natural for someone facing death to pray to God.
