One of the touchiest discussions among sincere Christians today is over the details of the manner of creation. It has proven very helpful to me that Dr. Hugh Ross has thoroughly explored an old earth creationist view and shown that it gives “naturalistic evolution” no more hope than does the neo-fundamentalist view of the 24-hour creation days. Yet I won’t be dogmatic against the latter view, as God is clearly a God of mighty miracles and COULD do something like that if He so chose. But the fact of His creation and the fact that Nature shows that nothing else would suffice to bring about its glories, is paramount. I do respectfully ask that Christians consider both views, and the possibility of a metaphysical regime change which would render it not possible for any sort of physical science as we know it to fully fathom the creation acts.
The creation mystery/controversy really comes down to this, though few ever say it: our concept of time and our understanding of time is very limited. Milky ways that are further away are shaped the way those closer to us should look...why? Time bends, time changes, and as Einstein taught us, time and space are ultimately the same property. What was a billiion years, or one day, might well have been the same thing. Wild, but science is still playing catch up to the Bible.
We need to stop being prisoners to our concept of time and space....God is not so constrained....
