I am opposed to the BSA's apparent decision. I have a son who is 6 months to a year away from becoming an Eagle Scout, and it is disturbing to see the organization go this direction.
On the other hand, just maybe, it might be that a kid who thinks he might be homosexual could change his mind after being around real boys. I'm inclined to think that the question of same sex attraction comes more out of ambivalence rather than actual desire, until the propensity is reinforced through conditioning.
So, as long as homosexual leadership is prohibited, there may be some good come from it. But I suspect that will go by the wayside after the first "homosexual" Eagle Scout reaches age 18 and demands to be part of leadership.
Thank you. That is my point exactly. And I also share your concern. For any good to come of this exceptional leadership and a healthy amount of prayer will be required. And I expect one of the keys to leadership will be to instill a sense of all inclusivness among all of the youngsters.
