courts don’t let church law supercede state or federal laws. alowing sharia to constitutes favoratism of religion. it also puts religious law over state/federal law.
Hopefully this will become law.
This issue came to a head in Ontario a few years back, but from the opposite tack. Religious courts never had legal authority here and the gov’t attempted to grant them official recognition. It was shot down largely as a result of an intense PR campaign by muslim women who did not want to deal with Sharia courts.
For crying out loud.
Ban Sharia whenever and wherever it rears its ugly head.
