Now that they all have computers they drive along shooting tag numbers for anything that they stop behind, see switching lanes in front of them, or that catches their eye due to make or model. They seem especially fond of checking vanity plates and Crown Vics for some reason.
They get a lot of stops for expired license and other little infractions they wouldn't notice otherwise due to having no reason to check out the driver.
